Analysis:
Gamma knife radiosurgery for supratentorial small meningioma (less than 3cm in diameter) has a good effect, which is no worse than surgery, and there are basically no side effects and sequelae. However, the effect on slightly larger tumors is not ideal, and surgery is better. Gamma knife treatment is effective for postoperative residual or recurrence! Gamma knife can also be used to treat meningiomas less than 3cm under the curtain, and its side effects are easy to produce brain edema, nausea, headache and other symptoms, but timely infusion of mannitol and hormones can prevent it.
Gamma knife is an accurate stereotactic treatment system, and its positioning is quite accurate. Radiation only irradiates the tumor, causing little damage to the surrounding normal tissues. Therefore, gamma knife treatment of tumors will not produce any sequelae, that is, some tumors may have side effects such as brain edema, which will disappear after symptomatic treatment.
