Jiujiang is a typical "land of fish and rice", with many rivers and fish ponds, and its agriculture is mainly freshwater farming. The town has 58,507 mu of agricultural land, including 34,290 mu of fish ponds and 63 large and small fry farms. There are four kinds of fish (bighead carp, silver carp, bighead carp and herring), osmanthus fish, Canadian bass, crucian carp, rich fish and catfish 10, and fish flowers and fry are raised every year.
After the adjustment of Nanhai District in 2005, the original Jiujiang Town and Shatou Town merged into the new Jiujiang Town. The merged Jiujiang Town is located in the southwest of the South China Sea, adjacent to Xiqiao, Shunde, Gaoming, Heshan and Xinhui, with an area of 94.75 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 20 community neighborhood committees and 7 administrative villages, with a registered population of about 10.56 million and a foreign population of 84,000, including compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and overseas Chinese 160, covering more than 60 countries and regions around the world.
There are five administrative villages in the town: Xia Dong Village, Xinlong Village, Shangxi Village, Haishou Village, Yannan Village, Zhennan Village and Nanjin Village.

Jiujiang has convenient land and water transportation and has been known as the thoroughfare of five cities since ancient times. Spread out the map, Jiujiang is adjacent to Guangfozhao in the north, Zhong (Mountain) and Zhu (Sea) in the south, and is surrounded by Xijiang and Beijiang, the largest rivers in South China. There are 7 commercial terminals, including two 5,000-ton terminals-Nankun Terminal and Sinotrans (Nanfeng) Terminal. In terms of land transportation, Jiujiang road network extends in all directions. Fokai Expressway, Zhuhai Second Ring Expressway, National Highway 325, Gao Long Highway, Foshan First Ring Extension Line (Jiu Nan Highway), Guangzhou-Zhuhai Railway and Zhao Shun South Intercity Railway all pass through Jiujiang. With Jiujiang as the center, it can reach 20 towns (streets) in half an hour and reach Foshan, Guangzhou, Zhaoqing, Jiangmen, Zhongshan and Zhuhai in one hour through land and water transportation lines, covering the whole Pearl River Delta.
