Some young doctors are now choosing to change careers, what do you think the reasons are?

Some of my friends around me have indeed changed careers for a number of reasons, summarized in no more than the impact of life, the pay is too low, the days are difficult, and found a better way out.

Learning medicine you do not have to do clinical, engaged in clinical is not to say that must be engaged in a lifetime, our dormitory of a sister, people graduated from the profession, directly changed to become a teacher, three months a year, summer and winter vacations plus national holidays, simply do not be too cool.

There is a friend, stayed in the clinical two years, because the income is too low, simply resigned to go home to help Mom and Dad open the pharmacy to go, for a need to get married, to support the wife and children of the male, you just go to work that two years have to rely on the parents to help, so the work to do down is indeed some difficulties.

There is a friend, to a small restaurant, although not big, but more comfortable than work, want to open the door, do not want to open the door on the close, the night shift, and do not have to be afraid all day on duty to sleep a little bit will be woken up by the nurse sister.

So, you see they have changed their profession, it is only for these reasons, for this one job is not satisfied, do not want to do, there is a better choice, so they left, in fact, life is also countless choices, we do not make the same decision only.

As a medical student who graduated one year ago, I would like to briefly mention a few of my own views on this issue:

At present, there are some young doctors who have switched to other professions, and there are such doctors around me. I've talked to them, and most of the reasons why they changed careers are these:

1, doctors work hard and earn less. The doctor's hard work is indisputable, especially young doctors, every day from early morning and late at night, but also on night duty, holidays and basically no rest, as long as there are patients in the wards, have to go to the hospital to check the room. Such a large amount of labor, but often is the doctor in the least income. The young doctors who just graduated from the workplace often need to fill in at home.

2, high pressure. The current doctor-patient relationship is tense, treatment of patients carefully, lest there be a problem, the family is not satisfied. Economic pressure is even greater, people of the same age tend to buy a house, buy a car, get married and have children, while the doctor may still be in school for training, everything is finished, but the income is poor. Promotion pressure, doctors want to successfully promote, generally not good doctor's work on the line, but also to learn the article, apply for the subject, the examination, and even some also need to study for the examination. Physical pressure unbearable load, generally in such labor intensity and pressure, very few times to exercise, rest and eat irregularly, leave difficult, the physical condition is worrying.

3, long training time, late maturity. Originally, the doctor on the undergraduate is 5 years, plus the current standardized training, and 3 years, and now comes the specialist training, and 2 years, when the so-called young doctor are more than 30. Just like this, the real independent induction, many people still do not trust. Coupled with the standardized training now, there is really still to be improved, learn a lot of things but also to the workplace to further study. But time is not waiting ah.

4, frustration. It is said that the doctor is a noble profession, save a life professional sense of achievement arise, that is only for a moment, but if a patient can not save, not to mention the patient's family to find you, your own professional frustration will make you a long time to slow down. I've had teachers quit clinical work completely after that because a patient died after surgery.

The professionalism of doctors is becoming more and more demanding, and some doctors are afraid to diagnose or misdiagnose during the consultation process, causing a bad impact on the hospital, and causing great economic losses and even the cost of patients' lives.

Two small examples:

A patient started stomach pain, because it is public medical treatment by the local hospital admitted for treatment, X-ray, CT, ultrasound done all over, and then the patient's family said: late, you are too irresponsible on the people. Family members asked what disease? Doctor: intestinal problems, do not understand? It's basically cancer! This statement could scare the patient's family a lot. And then see the patient day by day serious, has been the degree of pain, so in the hospital treatment for more than ten days every day treatment cost more than a thousand dollars a little effect has not been seen. The patient's family proposed to transfer to a large hospital to check, the local hospital one hundred disagreed, said he was publicly funded treatment must be in the hospital, to the field treatment will not be reimbursed for the cost of medication. And stayed a few days. Later, the patient's pain often coma, has not been able to rely only on painkillers to maintain. Family members to find their own ambulance to force the patient to be transferred to a military hospital, the overnight examination was diagnosed as severe perforated enteritis, immediate surgery. Nearly twenty years later, the patient is still alive today. Look at the wall of this local hospital column, second-class hospitals, advanced medical equipment should be available, high-ranking doctors lined up. A simple enteritis was misdiagnosed. Delayed into a perforated enteritis has not been found out what the problem is.

The second case: a neighbor felt a little uncomfortable eating esophagus, to the hospital to see a doctor, Guan with a series of instrumental examination of the program, the results were diagnosed as esophageal cancer, requiring hospitalization in a hurry. The patient was scared like a dead person generally do not eat not live, a family and was scared of the sky and the earth. Later remembered to come to a military hospital to check, the results of the military hospital doctors diagnosed as a slight inflammation of the esophagus, learned that it is not esophageal cancer, the patient at that time in the hotel ate a big bowl of dry rice, and then only in the pharmacy to buy some anti-inflammatory drugs all the problems solved.

It is certain that if these patients continue to be treated in local hospitals, they will die or even lose their homes and families.

The doctor's profession has its own peculiarities, one of which distinguishes it from most other professions is that the learning cycle is particularly long, the growth is particularly slow, and the income will blow up after middle age.

This characteristic leads to the fact that a young doctor, before the age of 30, may have a very low income. Doctors have to go to graduate school, get a PhD, and have years of standardized training after that. The income during these years is much lower than that of high school classmates in other professions. Before the age of 30, it may be difficult to break 10,000 yuan in salary, while high school classmates with the same education, if engaged in the IT or financial industry, may have reached more than 300,000 yuan in annual salary.

This leads to many young doctors not sticking around. After all, the price of a random fourth-tier city is now over 10,000 yuan.

I think this is the main reason

Secondly, now the doctor-patient relationship is too tense, when the doctor has no sense of accomplishment. Anyway, if you cure the patient, you will be scolded, and if you can't cure the patient, you will be beaten.

Thirdly, people who study medicine are basically considered to have better grades, and it's really easy to change careers, and it's really easy to get a license. I have a colleague before, just do not want to do doctors, directly examined a certified public accountant, other people test is very difficult, but feel that he is very easy. There is also a colleague, resigned to go to Lijiang to open the inn, write articles online, write thoughts, write good articles, became a netizen, the inn business is also not line.

There are also some people who just don't like the hospital environment, as well as the doctor's job, coupled with the difficulty of switching to a new profession, they have changed their profession.

As a young doctor, there are indeed many people of his age around him who have changed careers.

As a young doctor, there are indeed many people of the same age around who have changed careers.

Modern people's thinking is extremely active, no matter what line of work, the main reason for wanting to change careers is dissatisfied with the income situation, or that the income and pay is not proportional. To put it bluntly, they still work too much for too little money, and this is especially true of young doctors. The young doctors are mainly interns, doctors in training, residents or chief residents.

Doctors know that internships don't pay, and not only don't pay, but they also have to pay internship fees and accommodation fees to hospitals and medical schools. Clinicians have to go through this process. This is also the most expensive period for medical students.

Doctors in training are a new phenomenon, having been introduced nationwide only in the last few years. Their wages are very low, most of the doctors in training are relying on national policies and hospital regulations to receive a certain amount of subsidies, these incomes can basically only maintain food and clothing, the state subsidy of 800 to 1,000 yuan, most of the hospitals may give 1,000-2,000 yuan of subsidies, coupled with 200 to 300 of the night shift fee, which can only be enough to eat, as for the accommodation and other living expenses can only rely on the parents to subsidize it. As for work, doctors in training do a lot of basic work every day just like resident doctors. Many doctors choose to change careers because they can't afford the income and the work.

Residents are at the bottom of the hospital workforce and do the most basic, dirty, and tiring work, but because they are the lowest in rank, they have the lowest level of pay and bonuses. Different regions and hospitals have different incomes for hospitalized doctors, big hospitals have more, some hospitals and departments can reach more than 10,000 yuan, but most hospitals and departments have 5,000-8,000 yuan for first-line hospitalized doctors. Some people think that this is quite a lot of income, but it is really not much compared to what families used to pay, the daily hustle, 5+2, white+black, on-call, around-the-clock, and other high-intensity work. Many people can not tolerate such a ratio of income, benefit, they choose to change jobs.

Of course, there are also common factors for doctors to change careers because of prominent conflicts between doctors and patients, poor working environment, and workplaces far away from their residences.

At present, there are some young doctors who have switched to other professions, and I have such doctors around me. When I talked to them, most of the reasons for switching to other professions were as follows:

1. Doctors have to work hard and earn less. Coupled with the standardized training now, there is really still to be improved, learn a lot of things but also to the workplace to further study. But time is not waiting ah.

4, frustration. I've had faculty members quit clinicals completely after that because a patient died after surgery.

......

There are probably many more reasons, but these basically include these.

When I take students now, I ask beforehand, do you really want to be a doctor? If there are other ideas, as soon as possible to change the profession, this industry if you can not eat bitter, can not carry ah, can not bear loneliness, can not stand the aggression, can not continue to learn, please early to change the profession, because you can not do these, you can not do a good doctor, and even the doctor you can not do the head.

As we all know, the doctor's profession is a long line of professionals, that is, to be able to independently practise medicine and have an income of almost a living, often over the years, and before that, the young doctor's income and its meagre, monthly income and not be able to support the family's expenses, and the work time is often, the intensity of the work of the high, the pressure is very great. Rarely can you find time to spend with your family.

And some years ago, the mainstream media's irresponsible reports, resulting in these recent years, the growing contradiction between the doctor and the patient, killing the doctor, injuring the doctor's time is common, and even some of the college entrance exams to fill in the volunteer children directly filtered out of the medical related to fill in all the specialties.

The author is a nearly 40-year-old doctor, some of my peers around me, as well as some of my past students have changed to do other professions, their labor intensity is far lower than me, and the income is also much higher than me. The only thing that can support us to continue to do is a belief, and sometimes a warm word from the patients and their families is a powerful motivation to support us to continue to be a good doctor.

Honestly, if you don't love this profession, you shouldn't have chosen it in the first place! If at first you just think that being a doctor is decent, stable, and well-paid... you have to realize that you're not being a doctor in the United States! You're talking about the developed countries of America and Europe! Then you study for eight years, graduate, train for three years, and suddenly realize you're thirty, no car, no house, and you have to chew on your old man... Then you finally go into the hospital, and you can't see all the patients every day, your head is buzzing, you don't get any respect, and there are disputes, even kicking and punching, and the salary isn't low, but it's not proportional to the work you're putting in... there are no statutory holidays, no triple time off, and there's no pay. Legal holidays, no triple pay, no nine-to-five regular shifts, work on New Year's Eve has become a common occurrence, no time to care for your children, go home and want to take a shower and go to bed...

I think there are a lot of reasons for this, despite the fact that there are 600,000 medical students graduating from school every year in our country, but fewer than 100,000 of them are actually wearing the white coats, and the factors affecting the young people's change of career lie in the fact that Medical practice starts with low pay and a long and difficult road, with "medical labor", "medical trouble" and doctor-patient relations becoming key factors. The doctor's career has become a high-risk, high-stakes but low-paying embarrassment in China.

Although many young people have a passion, want to dedicate themselves, but the reality is very cruel, the high threshold of the road of medical practice has become a roadblock mountain, no master's degree, doctoral degree can not enter the provincial level, municipal hospitals also want to master's degree, and undergraduate students can only run the two hospitals, township hospitals are to collect specialists, but people are not willing to go. Medical students want to go to the three hospitals, but the key departments of the three hospitals have a high threshold, and the doctor's practice pass rate is only 30%, so they are discouraged.

The violent killing of a female doctor at Tianjin Armed Police Logistics Hospital in July this year sent shivers down the spine of many doctors. Although the state has strengthened the "medical trouble" rectification, but the injury to the doctor incident is not uncommon. And difficult to see the doctor, see the doctor is still not solved, the patient complains about the doctor, the media condemnation, keyboard warrior black doctor, etc., doctor-patient relationship does not see obvious cooling, worry about fear is normal.

It is reported that more than half of the doctor's income and expectations are not consistent with the average annual salary of only 95,500, while the opposite is the vast majority of doctors there is "overwork" phenomenon, overtime is common, there is no rest is the norm, such as pediatricians, a day on the more than ten hours of the large number of people, which leads to a lot of young people tend to The first thing you need to do is to get a good job and get a good job.
