What is general medical insurance

General medical insurance refers to the medical insurance that is paid by the employer or the individual, so that when the insured person needs to be admitted to the hospital for treatment due to illness or is hospitalized due to other accidental injuries, he/she can get financial compensation from the medical institution.

General medical insurance includes: general medical insurance, hospitalization insurance, surgical insurance, comprehensive medical insurance, special disease insurance and so on.

I. General medical insurance

General medical insurance provides the insured with general medical expenses related to the treatment of diseases. It mainly includes outpatient expenses, medicine expenses, and examination expenses.

II. Hospitalization Insurance

Hospitalization expenses are treated as a separate insurance policy since the costs incurred for hospitalization are often high. The main expense items covered by hospitalization insurance are daily hospital fees (bed charges), costs of utilizing hospital equipment, surgical costs, and medical expenses.

Third, Surgical Insurance

Surgical insurance can be either a separate type of insurance or an add-on to hospitalization insurance. No matter whether the insured person undergoes surgical treatment once or several times during the insurance period, as long as the actual expenditure on surgical treatment does not exceed the insured amount, the insurance company will pay medical insurance premiums according to the actual expenditure on surgical medical expenses.

Four, comprehensive medical insurance

Comprehensive medical insurance is a kind of comprehensive medical expense insurance provided by the insurer for the insured, whose expenses include medical treatment, hospitalization, surgery and other expenses. This type of policy has a higher premium. A low deductible is generally established along with an appropriate sharing ratio.

V. Special Disease Insurance

Special Disease Insurance provides coverage for policyholders against major diseases, either single or multiple, and after 180 days from the effective date of the policy, if the insured person is diagnosed with a major disease agreed upon in the policy by a hospital of a certain level, he or she can apply for a payment of the full amount of the insurance amount from the insurance company, and the insurance liability will be terminated immediately.
