Tung oil is an excellent with dry vegetable oil, with fast drying, light specific gravity, good gloss, strong adhesion, heat-resistant, acid-resistant, alkali-resistant, corrosion-resistant, rust-proof, non-conductive, etc., and has a wide range of uses. The tung oil is divided into two kinds: raw tung oil and cooked tung oil. Tung oil is more toxic, clinical use for external use, contraindicated internal use. Poisoning are all due to misuse of food (tung oil as a general cooking oil cooking dishes). According to the observation of 289 cases, most of the symptoms of poisoning appeared within 2 hours after ingestion, the earliest 40 minutes, a few in about 4 hours. The main manifestations were nausea, frequent vomiting; followed by abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, dyspnea, twitching of limbs, numbness of hands and feet, chills, vomiting of blood, blood in stools, and fever; coma and laryngeal muscle spasms were observed in severe cases. Laboratory tests suggested mild kidney damage in some cases; and could exacerbate the clinical symptoms of hepatic disorders and changes in liver function. All recovered after prompt treatment. In addition, there were cases of subacute poisoning caused by continuous ingestion of trace amounts of tung oil (cooking oil mixed with tung oil). According to the report of 52 cases, its clinical manifestations compared with the above acute poisoning has the following differences: a gastrointestinal symptoms light; two systemic symptoms obvious, fever, breathlessness, numbness of the hands and feet far more than the acute poisoning, and there are lower limb edema, hypesthesia, redness and burning, heart enlargement and other acute poisoning of rare signs; three prognosis of the more serious, the group of cases in the 5 cases due to heart failure and death.
