Enteral Nutrition Operation Procedure

Assessment:

1Assess the patient's condition and age, the state of consciousness and the degree of cooperation, and the patient's self-care ability.

2Inform the patient of the operation method, purpose, and instruct the patient to cooperate.

3Check the power supply and place the infusion stand.

Preparation of materials:

1 conventional treatment trolley, treatment tray

2 gastrointestinal pump, nutrition pump tube, if necessary, to prepare the power outlet

3 enteral nutrition solution

4 disinfection of hand sanitizer

Operating steps:

1 wash hands, wear a mask

2 check the doctor's orders, clarify the purpose of the nutritional fluid

3Check the patient's bedside with the trolley, check the bed number and name, and assist the patient to lie down

4Install the nutrition pump, connect the power supply

5Hang the gastrointestinal nutrient bag on the infusion frame (and exhaust)

6Correctly install the nutrient pump tube in the nutrient pump

7Before instilling the food, you should check the position of the nasogastric tube, and check the digestive situation of the antitubes, to make sure that the gastric tube is in the stomach

7The gastric tube should be placed in the stomach. Make sure the tube is inside the stomach

8Inject 20ml of warm boiled water into the stomach to flush the tube

9Turn on the switch of the gastrointestinal pump, and adjust the speed according to the doctor's instructions

10Connect with the patient after exhausting again, and press the start button of the gastrointestinal pump

11Check the patient's name and medication again, and fix the tube properly.

12Observe the operation of the gastrointestinal pump, the smoothness of the gastrointestinal tube and the patient's response.

13Assist the patient in the semi-recumbent position and inform the patient of the precautions to be taken in feeding.

14Organize supplies, wash hands, and record.

Precautions:

1Assess the position of the patient's gastric tube and whether it is patent, select the appropriate gastrointestinal nutrition bag according to the gastrointestinal nutrition pump and connect it correctly.

2 Observe the patient's response and any complications such as intragastric retention, and flush the gastric tube every 4 hours. Flush the gastric tube with at least 20 ml of warm boiled water to avoid clogging the gastric tube

3Carefully record the amount, speed, concentration, and preparation method of the nutritional solution in the gastrointestinal pump

4Strengthen the oral care to prevent complications. Be sure to preset the infusion rate when starting the gastrointestinal pump.

5 Observe the operation of the gastrointestinal nutrition pump, and control the temperature of the nasal feed solution at 38-40℃. Nasogastric solution can be dropped on the inside of the forearm of the upper limb to test the temperature.

6Check the drug before instillation, make sure it is accurate and then crushed, and then instill it into the stomach after melting with warm water.
