What is the principle of electrostatic precipitator?

Principle: Dust-containing gas is electrically separated when passing through a high-voltage electrostatic field. After the dust particles combine with negative ions and become negatively charged, they tend to be discharged and deposited on the anode surface.

Under the action of the electric field, free ions in the air move toward the two poles. The higher the voltage and the higher the intensity of the electric field, the faster the ions move. Due to the movement of ions, an electric current is formed between the poles.

At the beginning, there are few free ions in the air and the current is small. After the voltage increases to a certain value, the ions near the discharge electrode gain higher energy and speed. When they hit the neutral atoms in the air, the neutral atoms will decompose into positive and negative ions.

Due to the chain reaction, the number of ions moving between the poles is greatly increased. The high-intensity voltage captures the attached bacterial particles and instantly conducts electrical breakdown of the cell wall composed of proteins to kill bacteria, adsorb and remove dust.

Extended information

Precautions for the operation of electrostatic precipitator:

1. Electrostatic precipitator shell, anode plate, rectifier transformer, control cabinet, power cabinet, Power distribution cabinets, etc. should be well grounded.

2. It is prohibited to approach the high-voltage part of the rectifier transformer during operation. The high-voltage isolation switch cabinet should be padlocked and equipped with necessary fire-fighting equipment.

3. Before powering on the electrostatic precipitator, the operator should check with the maintenance personnel to confirm that there are no workers or debris inside the electric field, and all doors must be closed before powering on.

4. It is strictly forbidden to touch exposed parts of running or standby live equipment with hands, and it is strictly forbidden to operate switches or buttons with wet hands.
