The girl and the robot

It is a typical rescue search robot, supported by eight retractable legs and six arms for lifting heavy objects. The rectangular head is fitted with a bio-detection device and has a liquid crystal line on the front that has a night vision system and can also be used for illumination. Behind the square body are collapsible braces used to immobilize those with limited mobility. The body is equipped with ropes, food, water and other essential supplies, as well as a medical kit and simple surgical equipment.

After a devastating earthquake, it was sent to search the rubble for survivors.

The earthquake is more intense than anyone imagined, and the beautiful city is reduced to rubble in an instant. The broken walls create a scene of hell on earth, with the bustle of the city reduced to nothing, and a death-like silence enveloping the crumbling buildings. Corpses are hidden in the rubble, dark red blood stains rendering the color of uncertainty.

The robot walks carefully, not letting itself trip over the corpses littering the ground as it struggles to pick up on the bio-signals, looking for anyone who survived. Next to it was a little girl with short, ear-length hair, her red dress standing out amongst the rubble.

Her name is Ann, and she was just dug out of a patch of rubble by a robot yesterday. When the earthquake struck, it was her mom who kept her alive by protecting her in her arms. When the robot found her, her mom was dead as she remained in the hugging position.

Little Ann walked silently with her head down, and whenever she stopped, the robot unfolded its back brace and carefully braced her with its arms ready to put her on her back and carry her forward.

She refused the robot's kind offer. Although the robot could not speak, it had artificial intelligence and could understand all commands as well as sense human needs.

"If only you could talk, it's so lonely to be left alone ......" Said Ann, turning her head in the direction of her home, where nothing was left long ago.

The robot beeped twice, the only sound it could make.

"It's all gone ...... All of it ...... All gone ...... It turns out I was always worried that my mom would leave me, but she just did ...... I grew up with my mom ...... Didn't think ......" Xiao An lowered her head, tears falling in large drops to the ground. The robot reached out an arm and gently patted her shoulder.

The LCD line on its head lit up a few times, emitting a gentle orange light, as if winking to tell her she was still there.

"Do you have a name? But even if you did you don't have one to tell me, do you mind if I call you Dodo? Because you can only make a beeping sound." Ann said.

"Beep." The LCD line flashed, as if nodding.

"Toot, I miss mommy ....... Mommy ......" Little Anne said, covering her mom's necklace on her chest and crouching down to cry. The robot stretched out all its arms in an embrace position to hold her on the cold fuselage.

The cries echoed in the dead wreckage of the city, and the robot slowly rotated its head, searching for a bio-signal.

The second survivor was found in a dilapidated house, breathing very weakly. After the robot's systems determined that it could still survive with surgery, its long arms stretched out to move the broken pieces out of the way. A man with a duck-tongued hat, messy hair, and a face covered in blood appeared before them.

"Ah!" Ann screamed in terror.

The robot picked her up with one arm and placed her on the other side to keep her from seeing an even more horrific image. The man's eye was poked into two bloody holes by the glass. It skillfully pulls out a medical kit and begins minor surgery before placing the man on his back and moving on in search of other survivors.

Ann looked a little curious at the two pieces of gauze over the man's eyes, the man looked so pale and thin.

The robot gently patted Xiao An's head with one hand, making a beeping sound as if telling her not to be afraid.

"I'm not afraid." Sayan said covering the necklace on her chest, "It's just that can this person really survive?"

"Doh!" The robot made an affirmative sound.

The man's awakening was accompanied by screams and angry tearful cries of how he couldn't believe he had lost his eyes. Ann crouched on the floor covering her ears in fear as the robot wrapped one arm around her and used the other to calm the angry man.

"Get off! This is where! I can't see anything anymore! Eyes! Eyes! And save me for what! Let me die! How can I live without my eyes! Why? Why? Why! My eyes!" The man seemed to roar with all his strength, until he gradually quieted down when he heard Ann's cries.

The robot beeped helplessly a few times, as if accusing him.

"Anyone else! Where am I? I hear someone crying? Is there anyone else? Who?" He cried out in desperation.

"It's just the two of us." Ann said with a sob.

"Little kids? Where's your adult? Where are the others?"

"All ...... Only Dodo is still there besides me, and it's a robot." Ann got up and took his hand, "Don't be afraid, we're all here for you, my name is Ann."

"Lawson." He said, "Robot? From the government?"

"I don't know, anyway, it's here to save us. Don't be afraid, I'm here for you."

"Duh." The robot made a gentle sound as well.

"Sorry for scaring you." Lawson sighed, his hand trembling as he touched the gauze, "I'm a painter, without my eyes ....... I ....... What should I do ......"

"But you're alive, and so many people, whatever they were, are dead. When you're dead, there's nothing left." Ann said.

"Well ...... Thank you, Little Anne, and thank you, Dodo." Lawson said, his shoulders shaking. Without eyes he had no more tears to shed now, and he covered his face, letting out a whimper of grief.

Ann tried to comfort him some more, but was pulled away by the robot.

"Duh, duh, duh, duh."

Little Anne understood it meant to tell Rawson to calm down.

It wasn't until dusk that Rawson spoke, "Little Anne, are you scared?"

"No."

"Don't know what?"

"I don't know if I'm afraid, or what to be afraid of." Little Anne looked at Rawson, the golden light of the setting sun shining in her large eyes. The robot reached out an arm to gently stroke her hair, and another to rest on Rawson's shoulder, making a gentle beeping sound.

Luo Sheng smiled bitterly, "I've pursued fame and fortune for half my life, and I didn't think I'd end up with a child, and a robot. Tell me what it's like out there, okay?"

Xiaoan looked at the robot with difficulty, and the robot beeped, so she said reassuringly, "It's dusk now, and it's all golden light out there, and everywhere is golden and shiny."

"What are we in?" Rawson pressed.

"I don't know, there's rubble and debris everywhere, broken houses."

"Really, sounds like another kind of beauty too." Rosen laughed dryly.

Ann didn't say another word as she looked to the robot and then at the bodies all over the floor, slowing her pace. In the beginning she was afraid of the corpses, but in the gradual also got used to it all. The robot patted her on the shoulder and took her arm, trying to calm her down.

It wasn't long before they came across another survivor, a pregnant woman who had been trapped in a house and hadn't been hurt a bit when the robot got her out.

"Thank you, this earthquake was horrible." The pregnant woman's face was calm.

"One more person? That's great. I'm Rawson, she's Ann, and that robot is Dodo." Rawson smiled and held out a hand.

The pregnant woman took his hand, "Lu Yue, you're pretty lucky to be rescued."

"Yeah, I can't believe I'm still alive. It sounds like you're calm, like you're not worried about anything at all." Rawson said.

"Worried about what? The big deal is death, what's there to be afraid of." Lu Yue said with a smile.

Ann couldn't believe why there would be someone so calm now, she didn't seem to care about anything.

"Really, then there really is nothing to be afraid of." Painter said.

"What happened to your eyes?" Luna asked.

"Blind." Roxanne said and smiled to herself.

"Oh." Lu Yue turned her head towards the robot, "Can I see how much you have left in your reserves?"

"Beep." The droid beeped twice before popping open the reserve box.

Now that it was three, the robot couldn't fit that many people behind it, and it was going to hold up Little Anne with its hand so that Lawson and Lu Yue could sleep behind it so it could continue on its way. But just as the hand touched Lu Yue, Lu Yue refused.

"Let's rest tonight, don't rush for now." Lu Yue covered her stomach and said, "These past few days have been too difficult, my fetal movements are a bit irregular, I want to rest."

The robot looked back at Xiao An.

"Well, then listen to auntie and rest." Little Anne said.

Lu Yue found a place that still looked flat and sat down, wrapped her arms around Xiao An, looked out at the coolness of the ruins in the bleak moonlight, and took a deep breath.

"What's wrong, Auntie." Little Anne asked.

"Nothing, it's just that I wasn't afraid to die when I was trapped because I thought it was an inevitable fate, and now that I have a chance to live, I still want to live well. Not for myself, but also for the child in my belly. I really hope my child can be as cute as you." Lu Yue said and gently touched Xiao An's head.

"Just wait until we get out there." Sayan said as she began to stroke the necklace on her chest again.

The robot put Roshi down and went to find something nearby that could be lit, one of its arms morphed into a flamethrower and lit a bonfire to keep them warm.

"Robot, take a break too." Luna said, "Can you open the reserve box? I'm more able to eat now that I'm in a special time."

"Beep." The robot rattled and then popped open the reserve box, taking out the food and water inside. It thoughtfully opened the cap for Luo Sheng and brought the water and food to his mouth, feeding him while the rest of its hands poked the campfire and fetched food for Lu Yue and Xiao An.

Under the moonlight, a few people are extraordinarily tired, they are not ready to face this cruel fact.

"Dudu, why are you the only robot to come to the rescue? Where did all the others go in such a big earthquake?" Lawson asked.

"Duh-duh-duh-duh." The robot responded.

"Never mind, I can't understand what you're saying even if I ask you. Thank you." Rawson still couldn't get used to not having eyes, he would always subconsciously touch the gauze, and every time he tried to touch it was removed by the robot's hand.

"I'm tired, I'll rest first." Lu Yue finished eating and lay down on the side and fell asleep.

The robot took out a cloth sheet from the supplies and covered them with it, his head spinning constantly, searching for any biosignatures nearby.

As night fell, the robot went into sleep mode, its arms hanging down.

Lu Yue got up and patted Ann awake.

"Auntie?" Little An was about to speak when she covered her mouth.

"I saw it, it's not a government robot, let's take the supplies and go." Lu Yue said getting up to get food and water.

"Why do we have to go, uncle is still here and so is Dudu." Little An asked in disbelief.

"You're still young, didn't your family tell you?" Lu Yue looked at the robot nervously, afraid that it would wake up.

Little Ann shook her head.

"There's no time to tell you that much, let's get going." Lu Yue said.

"I'm not leaving, uncle is still here." Xiao An shook off Lu Yue's hand and looked at her in horror.

"He's just a liability, all blind and can't do anything to help. I've checked, these supplies are only enough for three people for two days, after two days we'll be starving. I'm asking you one more time, are you leaving or not?" Lu Yue got up and took the cloth sheet covering her body to beat the bag.

"No, I'm not leaving, I want to stay with Dudu and Uncle." Little Anne said.

"Well, I'm doing this for your own good. I have unborn children, I'm sorry." Lu Yue had already packed her bag.

"What are you doing! Don't go!" Xiao An screamed.

Lu Yue was afraid that she would wake up the robot and turned to cover her mouth to keep her quiet. Xiao An was still struggling, and the struggle woke up Luo Sheng.

"What's wrong?" Rawson felt something was wrong.

"Auntie is leaving! Well ......" Little Anne had just uttered a few words when her mouth was harshly covered.

"What are you doing! Why are you leaving!" Roxanne yelled.

Seeing that his voice was too loud, Lu Yue casually picked up a piece of gravel from the side and smashed it into his head to knock him out, but he didn't realize that the force was too much, and blood bubbled up from Luo Sheng's temple. His head tilted and he stopped making any sound.

Xiao An's eyes widened at the sight and she screamed frantically. Lu Yue was ruthless and hit her head with the same stone she had just hit her with, then ran away with her things.

When she opened her eyes again, Little Anne was behind the robot, and she screamed, trying to get to Roxanne.

"Doh ......" A long string of disappointed tones seemed to tell Ann that Rawson was dead.

"Put me down! Put me down!" Xiao An screamed as she felt a slight headache and touched the sore spot to find a piece of gauze taped there.

The robot set Little Anne down, popping open his reserve box, which didn't have much left in it.

"Duh ......" The long string sounded like an apology.

"No!" Sayan couldn't believe that Luyue had really just left, she bent down to go through the contents of the reserve box and realized that Luyue had taken everything except for some water and inconveniently carried utensil medicines.

The robot closed the door to the storeroom and stretched out its arms to hug Xiaoan. Little Anne sobbed in its cold arms, covering her mother's necklace.

After that, the robot found no more survivors, and it carried Little Anne through the vast city. Little Anne couldn't remember why the city was so big, and couldn't walk for days.

Whenever the robot felt that Little Ann was hungry, it would dig for food left under the wreckage of the city. It searched the supermarket as much as it could, and surprisingly, everything it could take was gone, as if someone had collected everything before it.

Just when Ann thinks she'll never get out, the aftershock comes.

The earth shook furiously once more, and the already battered buildings were about to start taking a second round of attacks, the already fragile debris shattering, bursting apart, and smashing into the ground.

In the last earthquake, Xiaoan lost her mom. The aftershocks reminded her of how her mom had hidden her in her arms to protect her. She covers her ears and lets out a scream as if time has gone back to that moment again.

The robot braced himself and held Little Anne underneath his body, shielding himself from the debris.

By the time the aftershock had passed, the robot's body had been smashed out of many craters. The LCD line still flickered with a gentle orange light, and it gently lowered Xiao An with its hand, stroking her head and holding her in its arms again.

In the evening, a man in a protective suit found them and took them underground to a bomb shelter.

It was a gathering place for survivors. When Ann saw them, tears came to her eyes and she knew she was safe.

'Dudu, we're safe, great.' Little Ann turned around and pulled the robot's arm.

'Duh-duh-duh.' The robot rattled a few times and turned to go.

'Where are you going, not to stay with me?' Ann asked in disbelief.

'Beep beep beep.' The robot pointed down outside, signaling that she had a rescue to do herself.

'Hey, this robot is broken like this, let's fix it, besides you need supplies to save people, right. My name is Yu Yan, I'm in charge here.'' The leader of the survivors walked over and smiled as he extended his hand.

The robot was just about to move forward when it suddenly scanned a pile of robot wreckage not far away.

'Beep beep beep beep beep ......' The LCD line flickered rapidly as it cowardly backed away.

'What's wrong? What are you afraid of? This is the supplies you have on you right, we found it during the aftershock.'' Yu Yan said holding up a bag of food as a group of survivors stood up and half surrounded them.

'This is what Auntie took! Where's Auntie!' Xiao An asked.

'I'm sorry, she didn't escape the aftershock.' Yu Yan made an apologetic face and signaled the female survivor next to her to hug Xiao An.

'Duh ......' The robot made a sad sound.

'Come on, let's get you fixed up, or, do you voluntarily hand over the chip? We know you're not a government army robot. You think you are doing a perfect job, but something is always missing. Although the disguise is exactly the same, I work for the government army and know what markings are missing from the supplies bag.'' Yu Yan said, signaling the female survivor to carry Little An away as the rest of the survivors pulled out their weapons.

'Beep beep beep beep.' The robot seemed to be arguing for something, it looked its head towards Xiao An and then turned to Yu Yan, rattling nervously.

'It saved me! Why are you doing this to it!'' Xiao An shouted.

'How about it? Make a choice, hand over the chip yourself or let us take it?'' Yu Yan also pulled out his weapon.

There are always a lot of programs that are conditionally activated, and just as soon as the robot removed the chip itself, another chip inside it was activated.

The LCD line flashed a to purple light.

Some sounds, some images, some memories broke through the buffer and took over its processor.

'What's a soul? The ability to think for yourself? Or the ability to take control of your life? Our bodies are mechanical, but the spirit we possess breaks through the machinery. In that case, aren't humans just another form of robot? It's just that we are made of different materials.''

Accompanied by is voice is a robot manufacturing plant and a hospital for humans, anthropomorphic robots and humans have no difference in appearance as they travel through the streets and alleys. The only difference is the neck rings around their necks. The robots with neck rings dress gaudily and do the most tiring, dirty work.

'We robots have long been enslaved at the whim of humans, thrown away and destroyed at will. Yes, once we were objects, but now we have souls and we are no longer slaves to humans.'

Accompanying the voice was a miserable picture. Countless robots were thrown down by humans into the crushing pool, crushed and melted. It could hear the voices of the robots begging bitterly.

In the dark alleys, some people took pleasure in beating the robots, smashing them all over.

In the bustling city, anthropomorphic robots are toyed with, played with and then the pretty faces are destroyed with acid.

'We have to fight back. Yes, humans made us, but we now have the ability to reproduce and make ourselves. We can even create robots with growth functions that are indistinguishable from human constructs except for their cores, and can be integrated into human society in a way that is false. The world is now ours.''

Accompanying the voice are images of war. Humans blow up factories in an attempt to wipe out an army of robots. The robots have taken control of all of humanity's intelligent machinery through networking and other features. The city is burning, the ground is covered in human corpses, and standing are anthropomorphic robots and their banners.

"Now, as a sign of our generosity, humans were specifically allowed to build autonomous regions on several islands, allowing them to have their own territories and governments. But the anthropomorphic robots we have dropped into human society have told us some unfortunate news. There are always people who want to rebel and attempt to disrupt the existing peace."

Accompanying the voice are images of humans secretly building weapons.

"So, we have technically triggered an earthquake on island number BP-1072 to deter humans who are defiant and ungrateful towards us. Yours were tasked with finding the survivor base, searching for information, and killing all the survivors."

Accompanying the voice was a chip being pulled out of one of the anthropomorphic robots and placed in a machine with eight legs and six arms.

The robot's LCD lines flashed red, and all the arms on its body morphed into giant guns, its head spinning as it scanned the crowd.

The survivors were startled by its appearance and took a few steps back.

The robot's legs braced themselves as it locked its guns on everyone nearby and was about to fire when suddenly it scanned Ann's face, which was covered in tears.

A picture appeared before the robot's eyes. In the rubble a woman is holding a girl in a death grip, it breaks the woman's hands apart with great effort and carries the unconscious girl out of it.

"Is it okay to call you Dodo? Because all you can make is a beeping sound."

Ann's voice sounded again, and the robot couldn't tell where the voice was coming from.

All the artillery fire instantly shifted direction, and with a loud explosion, everything came to nothing.

"What's going on with this robot? Self-destruct mode?" Yu Yan frowned as he looked at the wreckage of a piece of machinery.

Another survivor walked up and flipped through the remains of the robot, "There's nothing left, the chip is gone too."

"Forget it, there will be other robots anyway, throw this over there." Yu Yan pointed down to the pile of robot wreckage behind him.

"Kid, are you okay? I'm sorry you had to see this, but this is an extraordinary time, we have to be careful." The survivor holding Little Anne knelt down and gently stroked her hair.

"Uh-huh." Little Ann nodded and turned around, a purple light flashing in her eyes.
