Overview of GCr 15

GCr 15 steel is a kind of high-carbon chromium bearing steel with less alloy content, good properties and the most widely used. After quenching and tempering at low temperature, it has high hardness, uniform structure, good wear resistance and high contact fatigue performance. The steel has moderate cold working plasticity, general machinability, poor weldability, high sensitivity to white spots and temper brittleness.

GCr 15 is one of the most commonly used high carbon chromium bearing steels, which has high hardenability and high and uniform hardness after heat treatment. Wear resistance is superior to GCr9, with high contact fatigue strength, good dimensional stability and corrosion resistance, moderate cold deformation plasticity, average machinability, poor weldability, white spot sensitivity and temper brittleness of the first kind. When manufacturing ball bearings, it is used for rolling wall thickness12mm and outer diameter.
