How is electrical equipment safety level 1E graded?

Electrical equipment has only one level of nuclear safety, which is called Level 1E, and all other equipment is "out-of-level". All other equipment is "out-of-class". Class 1E equipment includes equipment that is necessary to perform the following functions:

--Automatic shutdown of the reactor

--Safety containment isolation

- emergency cooling of the core

- heat removal from the reactor and the reactor plant

- prevention and limitation of radioactive releases during accident conditions. state radioactive release.

Class 1E equipment is safety class equipment and is the most demanding in a power plant. Electrical instrumentation and control equipment that is connected to the safety class energizer is class 1E equipment.

Non-1E equipment is further divided into: safety-related (SR) equipment and non-safety important (NS) equipment.
