Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, abbreviated as (TSLC), is located in the plateau area of Bali County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, in the temperate zone, at an altitude of about 1,500 meters above sea level, and adjacent to Lugu Mountain Scenic Area, which is one of the launch test bases for China's experimental satellites, application satellites and launch vehicles.
1. Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center has rocket and satellite testing plants, equipment processing rooms, launch operation facilities, flight tracking and safety control facilities. Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center has the capability of multi-direction, multi-orbit, long-range and high-precision measurements, and is responsible for the launching of many types of medium- and low-orbit satellites and carrier rockets in sun-synchronous orbit for meteorology, resources, communications and so on. The launch center was built in 1967. Here winter is long without summer, spring and fall are connected, the frost-free period is only 90 days, and the average annual temperature is 5℃.
It was built in 1967. The base has been built into a modern launch site with multi-functional, multi-launch modes, integrating command and control, measurement and control communications, and comprehensive safeguard systems, and the comprehensive capability of space launches has realized a leap from one launch mission per year to more than 10 high-density rocket and satellite launches per year. The center has successfully launched China's first sun-synchronous orbit meteorological satellite "Fengyun 1", the first China-Pakistan "Resources 1" satellite, the first ocean resources survey satellite, creating nine firsts in China's satellite launch history.
2. Launch Tower:
(1) Launch Site Area No. 7 (Old Workstation): Completed in 1979, it was used for launching Long March II C/D and Long March IV B, as well as test-firing of new long-range ballistic missiles of Dongfeng. It was later modernized and re-commissioned.
(2) Launch Complex No. 9 (new site): completed in 2008, with cryogenic launch capability. It is capable of launching Long March II C/D and Long March IV B/C.
(3) Launch site area No. 8: underground silo for the test launch of Dongfeng V.
3. History:
(1) Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, one of China's four major space launch sites, celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2007, and with the successful launch of China's and Pakistan's third "Resource 1" satellite on the 19th, the center has successfully launched 38 domestic and foreign satellites into space in the past four decades. The success rate of space launches has reached 100 percent, one of the highest in the world.
(2) Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center is mainly responsible for launching spacecraft in sun-synchronous orbit and polar orbit. Since its establishment in 1967, the center's scientific and technological personnel have been aiming at building a world space launching site, and have vigorously carried out space launching technology researches and experiments on the Loess Plateau of northwestern China with the aim of achieving self-reliance and pioneering innovations, and breaking through a series of major space launching technology problems, and have made more than seven hundred scientific and technological achievements. It has made more than seven hundred scientific and technological achievements.
(3) Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center has built a modern launch site with multi-functionality and multiple launch modes, integrating command and control, measurement, control and communication, and comprehensive safeguard systems, and its comprehensive space launch capability has realized the leap from one launch mission per year to more than ten high-density rocket and satellite launch missions per year. The center has successfully launched China's first sun-synchronous orbit meteorological satellite "Fengyun 1", the first China-Pakistan Resources 1 satellite, the first ocean resources survey satellite, creating nine firsts in China's satellite launch history.
(4) Along with China's aerospace launch technology going more and more to the international market, Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center has also contracted to launch a number of foreign commercial satellites: in the 1990s, it successfully launched twelve Iridium satellites of the U.S. Motorola Company into the pre-determined orbit of the space in the manner of one-rocket-two-stars for six consecutive times, and since then, it has also successfully launched four commercial satellites of Brazil, the European Union and other countries and regions. The successful launch of the third China-Brazil "Resource One" satellite is internationally known as a "model of South-South cooperation" in the field of high technology.
4, foreign business:
China's space launch technology is beginning to move towards the international market. Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center has contracted to launch a number of foreign commercial satellites, and in the 1990s, the center signed a satellite launch service contract with Motorola of the United States for the "Iridium" communication network, and since September 1997, it has successfully sent 12 Iridium satellites into the scheduled orbit in the form of one arrow and two stars for six consecutive times. In the whole network launch, the center won high praise from customers for the most accurate launch time and the highest orbiting accuracy. Since then, the center has also successfully launched four commercial satellites from Brazil, the European Union and other countries and regions, and the third China-Brazil "Resource One" satellite was launched in September 2007, which was regarded as "another classic work of South-South cooperation".
5, facilities construction:
In recent years, the center of housing, water, heating and electrical equipment, cooking machinery, medical equipment, such as upgrading and supporting governance, in particular, to solve the subordinate scattered, distant, dangerous units of water, heating, bathing, eating vegetables difficult to eat and other issues. The newly-built Grade 2A hospital has greatly improved the medical conditions of the center, and the recently-completed physical training hall, which is in the shape of a roc spreading its wings, has set a modern swimming pool, gymnasium, bowling alley and indoor basketball court in one, which has enriched the spare time and cultural life of scientific and technological personnel.
Expanded Information:
Taiyuan Satellite Launching Center (TSLC) is the largest satellite launching center in China. p>1, Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center honors:
China's space has written a number of "firsts" here: the sun-synchronous orbit meteorological satellite "Fengyun 1", the first China-Brazil "Resources 1" satellite, the first oceanographic satellite "Fengyun 1", and the first satellite of the Chinese and Pakistani "Resources 1".
China's space program has written many "firsts" here: the sun-synchronous orbit meteorological satellite "Fengyun 1", the first Sino-Brazilian "Resources 1" satellite, the first ocean resources survey satellite, etc., which created nine firsts in China's satellite launch history.
With the successful liftoff of the third China-Brazil "Resources I" satellite, Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center has successfully sent 38 domestic and foreign satellites into space over the past 40 years since its establishment (until September 2007), and the success rate of space launches has reached 100%, which is among the highest in the world.
Research on space test technology has made major breakthroughs based on launch missions, and talent training has borne fruit in tackling problems and difficulties. More than 1,000 scientific and technological achievements have been awarded by Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, of which 4 have won the first prize at the ministerial level and 22 have won the second prize at the ministerial level. 2 people have been named national outstanding scientific and technological workers, 2 people have been awarded the National Award for Young and Middle-aged Talents and the Bole Award, 20 people have been awarded by the China Aerospace Fund Award, 22 people have enjoyed the State Council's governmental special subsidies, and 106 people have been enrolled in master's degree, doctoral degree, or have obtained a degree. Nowadays, this place has really become a "satellite city" where aerospace talents and cutting-edge technologies are gathered.
2, open to the public:
April 19, 2018, by the Shanxi Provincial People's Government Press Office conference was informed that the 2018 "China Aerospace Day", Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center will be open to the public, the public can have direct access to the remote sensing images of satellites, satellite launching pylon models and other aerospace implementation of the equipment.
