I want to understand the composition of the video conference system

The composition of the video conferencing system generally includes terminal equipment, multipoint control unit (MUC), network management system, transmission network four parts.

1, terminal equipment

Video conferencing terminal is set up for the user, including data ports, video/audio input devices, video/audio output devices, communication devices, video/audio encoding/decoding devices, information processing equipment, multiplexing/decomposition equipment. Its function is to video, audio, data, signaling and other digital signals are processed separately, combined into a composite digital code stream, and then the digital code stream converted into a data format suitable for compatibility with the user's network interface, in line with the provisions of the transmission network, and sent to the transmission channel.

2, multi-point control unit (MUC)

Whether it is a telecommunications network or computer network, video conferencing is to use them to transmit active or static image signals, voice signals, data signals and system control signals. At present, the communication control mechanism of the various networks themselves, can not fully meet the video conferencing requirements of the multi-point communication control function. Therefore, in addition to terminal equipment, communication lines, but also the addition of multi-point control unit equipment. It processes audio-visual signals and data signals according to certain guidelines and assigns them to the corresponding connected channels. In fact, it is a multimedia information switch, which realizes the functions of multipoint call and connection, video broadcast, video selection, audio mixing and data broadcast, and completes the convergence and switching of signals of each terminal. In hardware-based video conferencing, multipoint control unit is realized by a hardware unit, i.e. multipoint control unit. In software-based video conferencing, the multipoint control unit is realized through software.

3, transmission network

Transmission channel refers to the connection of terminal equipment to enable the transmission of video, audio and data transmission medium. Video conferencing transmission medium can be used fiber optic cable, cable, microwave and satellite digital channels, or other types of transmission channels. Videoconferencing services can be carried out over a wide range of existing communication networks, such as SHD digital communication networks, DDN, ISDN, ATM, and so on. The new standard now also guarantees that videoconferencing signals can be transmitted in computer networks, such as LAN, WAN, INTERNET, and so on.

4, network management system

Network management system is a management platform for interaction between conference administrator and MCU. On the network management system you can manage and configure the video conferencing server MCU, hold meetings, control meetings and other operations.
