Geography of Mianyang

Mianyang City is located in the northwestern part of the Sichuan Basin, the middle and upper reaches of the Fuling River. The geographic coordinates are: 103°45′~105°43′ east longitude, 30°42′~33°03′ north latitude. It is adjacent to Qingchuan County and Jiange County in Guangyuan City and Nanchong County and Xichong County in Nanchong City in the east; Shehong County and Daying County in Suining City in the south; Luojiang County, Zhongjiang County and Mianzhu County in Deyang City in the west; and bordering Aba Qiang Autonomous Prefecture and Wen County in Gansu Province in the northwest. The city covers an area of 20,249.45 square kilometers, accounting for 4.2% of the land area of Sichuan Province. Among them, the built-up area of Mianyang City is 99 square kilometers. The city according to the main types of landforms: mountainous areas accounted for 61%, hilly areas accounted for 20.4%, flat dam area accounted for 18.6%, the average elevation of 700 meters.

Mianyang City is located in China's eastern monsoon region of the Sichuan Basin subtropical humid monsoon climate zone. It is controlled by the northward airflow in winter half year, with dry and cold climate and little rain; in summer half year, it is controlled by the southward airflow, with hot, rainy and humid climate. Due to the city terrain in the north high and low in the south, the height difference is large, the landscape from the mountains to the transition of the hills, the formation of a more unique climate characteristics.
