What is an AED?

Automated External Defibrillator (AED), also known as an AED, is a portable medical device that diagnoses specific cardiac arrhythmias and delivers an electric shock to defibrillate the heart, and is a medical device that can be used by non-professionals to resuscitate cardiac arrest patients outside of the hospital.

Defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) using an automated external defibrillator (AED) is the most effective way to stop sudden death in cardiac arrest, but only during the "golden four minutes" of the optimal resuscitation time.

Automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable, easy to operate, a little training can be skillfully used, designed for on-site first aid first aid equipment, in a sense, the AED is not only a kind of first aid equipment, but also a kind of first aid is a new concept, a kind of first aid by the scene witnesses to the earliest effective first aid concept. It is different from the traditional defibrillator which can be analyzed by the built-in computer and determine whether the patient needs to be defibrillated. During the defibrillation process, the AED's voice prompts and on-screen animation operation prompts make the operation easier and simpler. AEDs can be operated by most people with only a few hours of training. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), learning to use an AED is easier than learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
