Zhongshan City is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, with 24 townships and districts, located in the south-central part of the Pearl River Delta, connected to Guangzhou in the north and neighboring Hong Kong and Macao, with a total area of 1,800 square kilometers, and a population of 1.35 million households. The language situation in Zhongshan City is complex, with the main Chinese dialects spoken, including Cantonese, Min and Hakka. The Min dialect, mainly distributed in Shaxi Town, Da Chung Town, Sanxiang Town and Zhangjiabian in Torch Development Zone.
The Hakka dialect, mainly distributed in Wuguishan Town, Shenwan Town and the southern part of Tanzhou Town.
