May I know the difference between femtosecond laser treatment for myopia without flap and with flap?

Flex (Full Femtosecond Laser Corneal Stromal Lens Excision):

Completely done by the full femtosecond laser system, FLEx surgery is a brand new surgical procedure that realizes a change in the refractive status of the cornea by removing the stromal endolens made by the femtosecond laser. The procedure is more precise and safer, with very little biomechanical impact on the cornea, avoiding dry eye.

Smile (full femtosecond laser microdissection corneal stromal lensectomy): completely performed by the full femtosecond laser system, it is a more superior refractive surgery than Flex. The whole process of the surgery is truly minimally invasive, which ensures "no incision" after the surgery and the best postoperative effect. The procedure is more precise and safer, with minimal biomechanical impact on the cornea, avoiding dry eye and flap dislocation. Using a femtosecond laser, two scans of different depths are made between the stromal layers of the cornea to create a flap and a lens resection, respectively, with the difference that the edge of the flap is only a 4-mm curvature lateral incision, i.e., a small circumferential incision, which is essentially incisionless for the entire periphery of the corneal flap. The lenticular lamellar corneal tissue is separated and removed along the tiny incision, and the entire procedure is performed without the need to create a corneal flap.
