The drift of the movie "Initial D" is really exciting, so how can we learn to drift? We invited Mr. Wu Haitang, one of the three major drifters in Hong Kong, to give a talk. Q: What is the most basic means of transportation for this kind of tail-flick driving? Wu: First of all, it is necessary to make the vehicle drift easily. It is best to choose a high-performance FR vehicle, and use the rear wheel power as the driving force for slipping, and control the angle of the front wheel. Of course, it is better to have some modifications. Q: What do beginners need to know first? Wu: Ha, of course, it is best to understand the dynamic principle that causes this drift effect first, and then you need to clearly understand the vehicle you are driving. Q: For example, what aspects? Wu: The first is muscle memory. What is muscle memory? It is absolutely necessary to know the position of the handbrake, how much it turns, and the throttle response of your vehicle. 1. You need to know the position of the handbrake, because when the tail flick angle is insufficient, you need to pull the handbrake instantly to lock the tire, so that the tire can have a larger roll angle. Novices often "can't find the handbrake" because they are not familiar with the location of the handbrake. 2. How much the steering wheel turns or how much it turns is one of the key points depending on the lateral angle. When the steering wheel of the vehicle turns once, some angles will be 20, some will be close to 30, and so on. So it is necessary to be familiar with the steering wheel angle of the vehicle you are driving. 3. Throttle control is difficult to explore. The strength of stepping on the accelerator completely affects the ideal lateral position of the vehicle. If there are too many, it is easy to turn around in place. If the throttle is too light, the vehicle will quickly return to a straight line. Therefore, before learning drift, you must first understand the various characteristics of your vehicle. Q: Your Hong Kong Figure Skating Club in Hong Kong also has apprentices. Can you briefly describe a set of methods that beginners need to practice? Wu: First of all, we must find a suitable venue. There are few people and a large place, so the ground should not be too bad. For beginners, it is best to practice the handbrake first, because handbrake is the easiest to have a direct impact on braking force. In addition, speed control is also very important. You can try to pull the handbrake at low speed to control the speed. But remember to press the safety lock on the handbrake when pulling. Q: If you are familiar with the above, can you drift? Wu: Of course not, because the low gear can't grasp the desired drift direction. To put it simply, after the above important exercises, you can try to put down a central point (reflection cone) in an empty place and circle around it in situ. Don't underestimate the practice of this circle. It is not easy to make the distance from the center point and the speed of each lap average and not deviate from the trajectory. Q: Thank you very much for accepting this interview. I will ask you questions in the future. Wu: You're welcome. I also hope that rafting will be more popular. U/d/
