What do you do for your thesis?

How to choose a topic

Selecting a topic is the first step in thesis writing. The first thing you need to do is to choose a thesis topic, that is to say, to determine the problem that you want to research and argue. The first step is to choose a thesis topic, that is, to determine the question to be studied and argued. All the other parts of the thesis writing do not fail to focus on this question in order to be answered and convincing, so the careful selection of the topic is the prerequisite for the next step and the basis of the work. The first thing you need to do is to find a way to get the best out of your life, and you'll be able to do it in a way that's easy for you.

1, the principle of selection

(1) the value of the topic. Selection of the topic should have a certain theoretical value and practical significance, guiding and practical characteristics. Measure the selected topic has no meaning and the size of the significance, mainly from two aspects.

On the one hand, whether the selected research thesis is in line with the needs of scientific research and social development, whether it is conducive to improving the quality of education and scientific research, and whether it can promote the development of the academic level of college students. This requires that the thesis should have important application value, and the scope of the selected thesis should be further broadened according to the research field of the instructor, and be practical, targeted and representative.

On the other hand, the selected research thesis should be able to test, revise, innovate and develop scientific theories according to the development needs of the research direction, make breakthroughs and establishments in the thesis, or have important additions and improvements.

(2) the reality of the selected topic. The realism of the selected topic is manifested in the selected thesis should be scientific. First of all, the guiding ideology and purpose is clear, and the thesis is based on sufficient and reasonable. The scientific nature of the selected topic is mainly manifested in the fact that there should be a certain factual basis, there is enough scientific evidence to prove the research methodology, which is the practical basis for selecting and opening the topic. Scientificity is also manifested in the fact that it is based on the basic principles of the research field, which is also the theoretical foundation of the thesis. Theories in the field of research will orient, standardize, select and explain the dissertation. Without a certain scientific theoretical basis, the selected thesis is bound to have a low starting point and be blind. If the opening thesis is unscientific, it will lead to improper research methods and the failure of the dissertation practice. The practical and theoretical basis of the selected topic field constrains the whole process of selecting the topic and affects the direction and level of the dissertation. The realism of topic selection is manifested in the fact that the topic selection should be based on the actual situation, and choose those topics which are of interest to you and of moderate difficulty. Only if you have a strong interest in a certain topic, you will be motivated to study it in depth and win the success of dissertation writing. Selection of moderate difficulty to overcome two tendencies:

One is the selection of too wide, too big. Because of the narrow knowledge, insufficient information, the ability to build the framework of the paper is weak, the paper will be very hard to do and difficult to go deeper, and even halfway;

The second is to choose too conservative. Because of the lack of confidence in their own ability to collect information and research ability, only choose the topic of low scientific value, thus preventing the full application of their own knowledge, so that the paper written lack of academic standards.

(3) the innovation of the selected topic. The article is not to be followed by others. To write a compelling thesis, the selected thesis should be the field of the previous unresolved or not yet solved problems, and therefore should be good at pioneering the problems of previous research, and innovative and contemporary. To achieve the novelty of the selected topic, there are three types to choose from:

①Extension type, i.e., to put the thesis on the basis of summarizing and developing the past practical achievements and theoretical main legacy of the relevant scientific research field;

②Complementary type, i.e., to carry out complementary research on the branching problems in the main field of the research, the problems that have not yet been studied or insufficiently researched;

③Hybridization type, i.e., to take the stone from the other mountain, to attack the problems that have not yet been solved or not yet solved by others. That is, the stone of other mountains, attack my mountain of jade, to another discipline, another field of scientific research results and knowledge to develop the field of this discipline. These three methods require extensive and in-depth review of the literature and conduct surveys, to their actual conditions of serious review, the completeness of the theory, the scientific nature of the research methodology for a high degree of evaluation and analysis, and then on this basis to redefine their own new arguments and new points of view. Only on the basis of the original breakthrough and innovative thesis is meaningful.
