The Third Hospital of Datong City is one of the 500 large hospitals in China, affiliated with Shanxi Medical University, a Grade 3A hospital and a "Baby Friendly Hospital" awarded by the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China.
The Third Hospital of Datong City has been awarded the title of "Advanced Collective in Qunyinhui" by the whole country since 1960. Since 1990, the hospital has been awarded as provincial and municipal civilized unit for twelve consecutive years, and the provincial standard unit of medical ethics and medical style construction. 1997, the hospital was awarded the title of the city's top ten civilized window advanced unit, and in 1999, the hospital was awarded the title of the national advanced group of health system by the Ministry of Health. 2002, the hospital was awarded the national advanced unit of spiritual civilization construction. 2002, the hospital was awarded the collective first-class merit. 2005, the hospital was awarded the title of spiritual civilization demonstration unit by the Shanxi Province. In 2006, the hospital was awarded the honorary title of Advanced Party Organization of National Provincial Comprehensive Hospital, Advanced Collective of Shanxi Health System, and Advanced Collective of Shanxi Medical Administration.
