Henan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was founded in July 1951 as the largest state-owned pharmaceutical commercial enterprise in the province with a history of 60 years. It is the only designated unit appointed by the provincial government to be responsible for the reserve and supply of medicines for the province's disasters and epidemics, and undertakes the tasks of central reserve and provincial reserve; it is the unit to guarantee the supply of medicines for hemophiliacs; it is the unit to guarantee the supply of medicines for the province's medical emergencies and drug addiction treatment; it is the designated unit to deal with essential and numbing medicines as well as vaccines as approved by the Provincial Bureau of Pharmaceutical Supervision.

At present, the company has a registered capital of RMB 15,000,000 yuan and a business term of 50 years. It is funded by Henan Tianfang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Henan Provincial Pharmaceutical Investment Management Company*** with the proportion of 60% and 40% respectively. It has two holding subsidiaries: Henan Pharmacy Chain Management Company Limited, with a holding ratio of 100%, and Henan Yuding Pharmaceutical Company Limited, with a holding ratio of 100%. The warehousing area reaches 11,000 square meters, including 180 square meters of refrigerated warehouse and 4,660 square meters of cool warehouse. The company's warehousing facilities are in full compliance with the GSP requirements and have the storage conditions for various drugs. As of the end of June 2011, the company had 226 employees on duty, 15% of which were management staff, 52% were business staff, 33% were auxiliary staff, 14 were senior titles, 33 were intermediate titles, 5 were deputy chief pharmacists, 4 were pharmacists-in-charge, and 14 were licensed pharmacists.

The company currently operates more than 3,800 varieties, more than 300 supply manufacturers above the company's scale, more than 400 hospital customers above the county level and more than 300 distribution customers. It has the comprehensive business functions of medical drug supply, market distribution and social retailing. The scope of business is the distribution and consulting services of proprietary Chinese medicines, chemical preparations, antibiotics, biochemical medicines, radiopharmaceuticals, biological products, diagnostic medicines, narcotic drugs, psychotropic drugs (Class I and Class II), vaccines, medical toxicity medicines, anabolic agents, peptide hormones, and traditional Chinese medicinal herbs and tablets. Since July 1, 2008, the company has formally assumed the centralized distribution of medicines to Zhengzhou Second People's Hospital, Zhengzhou Third People's Hospital and Zhengzhou Neck, Shoulder and Lumbar Pain Hospital; and since 2009, it has assumed the centralized distribution of Luohe Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. And the first in the country to create a new model of drug supply and government supervision of primary care institutions (Suiping model), since the trial run in November 2009, has been basically mature, and achieved the desired results, with a wide range of promotional value.
