5th Generation Mobile Communication Technology (5G) is a new-generation broadband mobile communication technology characterized by high speed, low latency and large connectivity, and is the network infrastructure that realizes the interconnection of people, machines and things.
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has defined three major categories of application scenarios for 5G, namely, enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), ultra-high-reliable, low-latency communications (uRLLC), and massive machine class communications (mMTC). Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) is mainly oriented to the explosive growth of mobile Internet traffic, providing mobile Internet users with a more extreme application experience; ultra-high reliable low-latency communication (uRLLC) is mainly oriented to the needs of industrial control, remote medical care, automatic driving and other vertical industry applications that have extremely high requirements for latency and reliability; and massive machine class communication (mMTC) is mainly oriented to the smart city, smart home, environmental monitoring and other applications targeting sensing and data acquisition.
In order to meet the needs of diverse application scenarios of 5G, the key performance indicators of 5G are more diversified.ITU defined eight key performance indicators of 5G, of which high speed rate, low latency, large connection has become the most prominent feature of 5G, with the user experience rate up to 1Gbps, the latency as low as 1ms, and the user connectivity capacity of up to 1 million connections/square kilometer.
