Industrial English

Industry is an economic concept, which refers to various organizations and institutions engaged in production or providing services, such as enterprises, factories, farms and service industries. The English word for Industry is "industry", which comes from the Latin word "industria", meaning labor and handicraft industry. The definition and scope of industry may be different in different disciplines and backgrounds, but it usually includes the following aspects:

1. manufacturing: an industry that produces material products, including the production and processing of various products, such as automobiles, electronic products, food, etc.

2. Service industry: industries that provide intangible products and services, such as finance, insurance, retail, catering, tourism and medical care.

3. Agriculture: mainly engaged in planting and animal husbandry, providing basic food and fiber resources for human beings.

4. Mining industry: the industry of mining and processing various metallic and nonmetallic mineral resources.

5. Energy industry: industries involving the development, production and utilization of fossil energy and renewable energy such as oil, natural gas and coal.

6. Construction industry: including industries in the fields of architectural design, construction and decoration.

7. Communication industry: industries that provide communication equipment and services, including telephone, network and television.

8. Science and technology industry: industries involving research and development, production and application of information technology, biotechnology and new materials.

As an economic concept, industry is of great significance in national economic development, international trade and industrial policy formulation. Different countries and regions have different industrial structures, which usually depend on their resources, technology, policies and market demand.
