The PURGE key is a key on some specialized keyboards for specific purposes and is not found on general keyboards.
The main functions of the PURGE key are:
1. In industrial control computers, the PURGE key is used to quickly cut off the connection between the system and external equipment (such as industrial machinery, etc.) in order to realize the emergency stop or device clear function.
2. In the keyboard of a medical device, the PURGE key is used to clear or reset the device settings and restore the device to its initial state.
3. For some keyboards with drive latching, the PURGE key is used to release the latched drive eject button to eject a CD-ROM or floppy disk drive.
4. In the function key area of the MAC professional keyboard, the PURGE key is used to exit the current application, which is equivalent to clicking the "Exit" command in the menu bar.
Besides the above, the PURGE key is rarely included on a typical PC or laptop keyboard. Only if it is needed for a special purpose or in a work environment, will this function key be added to meet the work requirements.
If you do have a PURGE key on your keyboard, you should be able to refer to the keyboard description or information provided with the keyboard to find out what it does. Generally, the PURGE key is a dedicated function key on some professional keyboards, used for exiting a program, clearing a device, or for other programmable purposes.
The PURGE key is not normally found on PC or regular office keyboards. So if you can't find it, it's normal, and you don't need to worry about it. In most cases, we will rarely use this key for its intended function.
