The hospital has experienced many vicissitudes. 1951May was established in Leiyang County, Hunan Province, and was named as the 69th Preparatory Hospital to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea; 1954 1 month, moved from Leiyang to Liling county, and was renamed as China People's Liberation ArmyNo. 167 Hospital in September of the same year; 1987 10 was transferred from Guangzhou Military Region to Hunan Provincial Health Department as a whole. 1In June, 1989, Hunan Provincial Tuberculosis Prevention and Treatment Hospital located in Nanyue moved to Liling City and merged to form Hunan Xiangdong Hospital. 1February, 1998, Liling People's Hospital merged and changed its name to Xiangdong Hospital affiliated to Hunan Medical College; In March 2002, it was merged into Hunan Normal University and became Xiangdong Hospital affiliated to Hunan Normal University.
The hospital now covers an area of 330 mu, with a construction area of 654.38+10,000 square meters, 800 beds, over 100 million yuan in fixed assets and nearly 1200 employees. Now it has developed into a "provincial comprehensive tertiary hospital" integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, first aid and community service. Through the unremitting efforts of several generations in eastern Hunan, especially in recent years, the hospital has developed rapidly and grown into a medical center in eastern Hunan.
