Edison was the first person in the history of mankind to have a profound impact on the world by utilizing the principle of mass production and the laboratory of electrical engineering research for the purpose of engaging in the patenting of inventions. His inventions of the phonograph, the movie camera, and the electric light had a tremendous impact on the world.
In 1889, Edison invented a moving picture camera, which used a pointed gear to drive a 19-millimeter-wide unpunched tape, which moved intermittently under the control of a ratchet while punching holes.
The camera was driven by a motor, and the shaft of the shutter was linked to a phonograph, which recorded sound while the camera was running, and could take continuous images.
In 1910, Edison invented a combination of phonograph and camera into a movie camera, under the energy of the motor, the camera's shading crankshaft and phonograph linkage, the camera runs when the phonograph will be able to record the sound. When projected, the phonograph is synchronized with the screen, allowing sound and images to appear simultaneously.

When the victory of alternating current (AC) had been decided in the early 1900s, Edison, in an attempt to spread panic and prove the dangers of AC, used 6,600 volts of alternating current to electrocute a circus elephant, which was thought to be a threat to mankind. Moreover, Edison's assistant, Harold Brown, used alternating current to invent a new device, the electric chair, to electrocute death row inmates to demonstrate the dangers of alternating current in what became the most controversial execution of all time.
Although Edison did many amazing things to counter AC, it ended in victory.
The construction of modern reinforced concrete buildings is partly attributed to Edison, who designed the long kiln that revolutionized the cement industry. Edison once said, "The architect who doesn't use reinforced concrete for buildings, but bricks and steel, is surely too stupid." But since the end of World War II, more architects have begun to use steel frames with glass materials instead of reinforced concrete.
