How many nuclear power plants in China

As of October 2019,19 have been completed, 18 are in operation, Taiwan's Nuclear Energy Plant 1 has been decommissioned, and 3 are under construction.

The completed nuclear power plants are Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant, Qinshan No. 2 Nuclear Power Plant, Ling'ao Nuclear Power Plant, Qinshan No. 3 Nuclear Power Plant, Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant, Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Plant, Ningde Nuclear Power Plant, Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant, Yangjiang Nuclear Power Plant, Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Plant, Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant, Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant, Taishan Nuclear Power Plant, Changjiang Nuclear Power Plant, Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant Taiwan Nuclear Power Plant No. 1 (decommissioned), Taiwan Nuclear Power Plant No. 2, Taiwan Nuclear Power Plant No. 3.

Three nuclear power plants under construction: Shidao Bay Nuclear Power Plant, Tanzhou Nuclear Power Plant, and Taiwan Longmen Power Plant.

The development and construction of nuclear power plants began in the 1950s

In 1951, the United States was the first country to build the world's first experimental nuclear power plant, and the Soviet Union built an experimental nuclear power plant with 5,000 kilowatts of generating power in 1954.

In 1957, the United States completed the construction of a 90,000-kilowatt prototype of the plant.

China's nuclear power plant construction began in the mid-1980s

The assembly of the first nuclear power machine in the Qinshan Nuclear Power Station, started in 1985, the commercial operation in 1994, the electric power of 300MW, China's self-designed and built and operated the prototype of the nuclear power unit. China has become the seventh country in the world to design and build its own nuclear power units, following the United States, the United Kingdom, France, the Soviet Union, Canada and Sweden.

Components of a nuclear power plant

Nuclear power plant consists of nuclear island, conventional island, nuclear power plant supporting facilities, nuclear power plant safety measures.

The nuclear island is the core part of the nuclear power plant, the main components for the nuclear reactor, pressure vessel (pressure shell), steam generator, main circulation pumps, voltage regulators and the corresponding piping, valves and other components of a circuit system.

The conventional island refers to the two-loop system consisting of the secondary side of the steam generator, the turbine generator set, the condenser, the feed pumps and the corresponding piping and valves.
