January 3, 2013 onwards, the original RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC will be repealed, the European Union countries must be January 2, 2013 before the new Directive 2011/65/EU (ROHS 2.0) to update the local law. According to the new directive, from the date of the repeal of the old directive, all products under the jurisdiction of the CE marking must meet the requirements of the Low Voltage (LVD), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Energy-Related Products (ErP) and ROHS 2.0 directives in order to enter the EU market.
ROHS 2.0 Important Changes
1. Incorporate the CE marking requirements and become one of the EU CE marking directives
In addition to the above electrical and electronic products must comply with the requirements of the directives of the (LVD), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Energy-Related Products (ErP), and ROHS 2.0, in order to affix CE marking, and to issue a Declaration of Conformity. RoHS 2.0 also requires manufacturers to issue supporting technical documentation and retain it for ten years.
2. Expanded scope of control products
New category 8 medical devices and category 9 monitoring equipment, adding category 11 other electrical and electronic equipment.
3. Importance of Technical Documentation
RoHS 2.0 requires that products must have supporting technical documentation and be archived for 10 years, and if required by the European Union, importers, retailers, and distributors must also provide this documentation to demonstrate product compliance.
