Structure and properties of bisphenol A polycarbonate

Bisphenol A polycarbonate is a polymer. It has the advantages of good mechanical strength, excellent heat resistance and high impact strength, and has become one of the most widely used engineering plastics.

It has good mechanical properties (high impact resistance and creep resistance), high transparency, good dimensional stability and electrical insulation in a wide range (15 ~ 130℃). As an engineering plastic, it is widely used in transparent materials, electrical parts, medical instruments and mechanical housings. It can also be used as scale inhibitor and dispersant for cooling water circulation and oilfield water injection.

Extended data

Bisphenol A is one of the most widely used industrial compounds in the world, which is mainly used to produce polycarbonate, epoxy resin, polysulfone resin, polyphenylene ether resin, unsaturated polyester resin and other polymer materials. It can also be used to produce fine chemical products such as plasticizer, flame retardant, antioxidant, heat stabilizer, rubber antioxidant, pesticide and paint.

In the manufacturing process of plastic products, adding bisphenol A can make them colorless and transparent, durable, light in weight and outstanding in impact resistance, especially to prevent acidic vegetables and fruits from eroding metal containers from the inside. Therefore, it is widely used in the manufacturing process of canned food and beverage packaging, baby bottle sealant, water bottle, tooth filler, glasses and hundreds of other daily necessities.
