Hannin, a prefecture-level city in Hubei Province, is located in the southeastern part of Hubei Province, on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and bordering on Hunan and Jiangxi. It is known as the "South Gate of Hubei" and is one of the member cities of Wuhan City Circle.

The average annual temperature is 16.8℃, with an extreme maximum temperature of 41.4℃ and an extreme minimum temperature of -15.4℃. The average annual precipitation is 1,577.4 millimeters, the average annual sunshine time is 1,754.5 hours, and the average annual frost-free period is 245~258 days. The main disastrous weather includes inverted spring cold, heavy rainstorms, floods, inundation and summer drought and ambient drought.

Folding Geological Features

Hannin is located on the southeast bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, at the northern foot of the Mufu Mountains. The geotectonics is in three four-level tectonic units, including the Liangzi Lake Depression (Ⅱ3) of the Daye Fold Belt (Ⅱ3) of the Lower Yangzi Terrace (Ⅱ3) at the eastern end of the Yangzi Quasi Terrace (Ⅱ2), the Xianning Terrace Fold Bundle (Ⅱ3), and the Tongshan Terrace Fold Bundle (Ⅱ4) of the Mufushan Terrace Argument (Ⅱ4). In the area, there are exposed strata of the Yuangui to Cenozoic Dynasties, and the magmatic activities are mainly concentrated in the Jiugongshan area of Tongshan. Due to the influence of crustal movement, the folds and ruptures in the area are developed, forming the present geomorphological landscape. The terrain is high in the south and low in the north, and is divided into three geomorphologic zones. Jianghan Lakes alluvial plain area, located in the northwestern part, for the Chibi City, Chaanling to Xianan District, a large area north of Shuangxi; Dabushan - Yushan low hills, located in the central part of Tongshan County, Tongshan County, Gaohu to the Shadian north of a line, Chaanling to the Shuangxi south of a line of the vast area; Mufushan erosive tectonics of the mountainous areas, located in Tongshan Gaohu to the Shadian A line south of the region.
