A series of tests are conducted in accordance with the current international standards or special regulations (set by the purchaser) to test the following parameters in order to assess the flame retardancy of the material:
Ignitability and flammability: that is, the degree of difficulty in being ignited; flame propagation speed: that is, the rate of spread of the flame along the surface of the material; refractory: that is, the rate of penetration of fire through the material components; the rate of release (HRR): that is, the amount of heat released and the rate of release of heat; ease of self-extinguishment; smoke generation: including the amount of smoke, the rate of release of smoke and the composition of smoke; toxicity Release rate (HRR): that is, when the material combustion heat and release rate; self-extinguishing degree of difficulty; smoke: including the amount of smoke, smoke release rate and smoke composition; generation of toxic gases: including the amount of gas, release rate and composition.
China has developed and implemented more than 10 different test method standards, such as: GB/T5454-1997 "textile combustion performance test oxygen index method", GB/T5455-1997 "textile combustion performance test vertical method", GB/TF5456-1997 "textile combustion performance test vertical direction flame spread performance determination" and so on.
China's clothing for the test of flame retardant properties of the main use of GB/T5455-1997 "textile combustion performance test vertical method". The principle is that a certain size of the specimen is placed vertically in the prescribed combustion chamber, with the prescribed ignition source ignited for 12 seconds, remove the source of ignition to determine the specimen's continued combustion time and the time of negative combustion, negative combustion stops, according to the prescribed method of measuring the length of the damage.
This method can be used for the determination of flame retardant properties of fabrics, decorative fabrics, tent fabrics and so on. China's textile flame retardant performance evaluation method is based on the burning rate of the textile as the main basis, only in line with the standard requirements of the textile products can be regarded as flame retardant products.
Flame-retardant materials
1, PEEK
PEEK is usually mixed with other polymers *** and add glass fiber or carbon fiber, etc., used in automobiles, airplanes, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and the chemical industry. There are many automotive parts made with PEEK resin, such as gears and bearings. In the chemical process industry, many pumps and valves are made of PEEK, oil well equipment, semiconductors are also often seen PEEK resin.
2, PEI
In the manufacture of automotive parts, PEI can replace the metal manufacturing dampers, sensors, air regulators, ignition system components and transmission system accessories.
PEI's flame retardant as well as low smoke and low toxic gas emissions also make this material used in aviation and spacecraft, such as gas and fuel valves, steering wheels, interior decorative surfaces, food trays. Electronic lighting components such as connectors and mirrors made with PEI materials are also used to take advantage of the polymer's flame retardancy.
3, PPS
Use of PPS flame retardant and high thermal resistance properties, in the automotive industry, PPS is usually manufactured engine interior parts, brake system components, need to withstand high temperatures of the electronic system components. In industrial equipment, PPS is often used in high temperature and chemical corrosive use environment. There are also more demanding electronic equipment housings made with PPS, for example, PPS is often used in connectors and sockets.
In addition, some office equipment, optical devices and some daily necessities are also often used PPS to replace metal and thermoset plastics.
4, sulfur-containing resins
Often PES is used in automotive fuses, membranes, electrical equipment, static dissipative equipment, cookware, light reflectors and other components. the transparency of PES in many ways have more prominent advantages.
5, PVDF
PVDF can be made into profiles, sheets, tubes and membranes, etc., used in chemical storage and processing equipment, fluid handling, semiconductor equipment. PVDF materials are also often used in automotive, construction, electronics and other fields.
6, LCP
LCP can be used in electronic connectors, fuse holders, high-temperature bobbin, pump parts. Microwave ovens, cookware, cell phones, ignition system parts, chemical equipment, medical equipment, office equipment, aircraft parts and other parts are often used LCP resin.
