In 1991, the Chinese Association of Social Work was founded, and in 2003, it was determined by the Ministry of Civil Affairs that the China Civil Rehabilitation Medicine Association would be merged into the Chinese Association of Social Work and renamed as the Rehabilitation Medicine Working Committee, which became a secondary organization of the Chinese Association of Social Work.
In 2015, approved by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Chinese Association of Social Work upgraded to the Chinese Federation of Social Work. In the same year, the Chinese Federation of Social Work approved to proceed with the formation of the China Medical Rehabilitation Association with the Rehabilitation Medicine Working Committee as the main initiator, and at the same time approved the establishment of the Preparatory Working Committee of the China Medical Rehabilitation Association.
The work of the association is to establish a nationwide internet application and management system for medical rehabilitation, widely carry out training on rehabilitation care, support the construction of cloud hospital platform systems for rehabilitation hospitals, and support the development of community health management centers, day care centers, and convenient service businesses.
