Shijiazhuang College of Economics (the former Hebei Institute of Geology) was founded in 1953, was originally under the Ministry of Land and Resources. The existing faculty has strong strength in teaching, scientific research, technological development and testing of jewelry, jade and precious metal jewelry in the fields of gemstones and material technology.

For the sustainable development of teaching and research and other aspects of work, the college introduces high-quality related professionals every year to enrich the faculty. At the same time, it also actively selects teachers to go out for further training and conduct academic seminars. Four, discipline construction and characteristics

The school opened the geological and mineral exploration (now resource exploration engineering) has more than 50 years of history and the accumulation of school resources. Including precious metals, jewelry and jade and non-metallic materials resources, geological and mineral resources, including basic research, prospecting and exploration, development and utilization of the field has achieved fruitful results, published a large number of monographs, textbooks and academic papers. Gemology and materials technology, which belongs to the category of materials science, is actually a cross-discipline of three major disciplines: materials science, geology and art and design. In our teaching program, in the basic subjects, professional compulsory courses within the two modules arranged "art and design basics", "geology basics", "gemstone and material technology" and "marketing". "Marketing" is organized in four blocks of courses. The "Materials Science and Engineering" major is characterized by "Inorganic and Non-metallic Materials Processing + Mineral and Rock Materials Utilization + Materials Testing and Analysis". Since the graduates also have a solid foundation in geology, they have a more specific and in-depth understanding of marketing, as well as good artistic qualities and basic knowledge of public ****, so graduates will have a wide range of employment space and the opportunity to show their talents.

We are carrying out a systematic construction, giving full play to the professional expertise of teachers in the identification and testing of mineral and rock materials, chemical analysis of materials, structural and performance testing of inorganic materials, process aspects of composite materials, research on the development of the deep processing of mineral and rock materials, research on the new processes of ceramics, glass, and cement and other major building materials, as well as exploratory research in the field of new materials. At the same time, we will introduce talents and build appropriate laboratories. We will carry out more fruitful scientific and technological research in the field of materials science and train one batch of outstanding talents after another.

V. Laboratory construction

The University now has crystallography and mineralogy, crystal optics and optical mineralogy, petrology, gemstones and non-metallic materials mineralogy, non-metallic materials process and chemical analysis laboratories. Dependent on my college of Shijiazhuang City, jewelry and jade product quality supervision and inspection station, there are first-class in the province, the domestic advanced precious metals, jewelry and jade quality inspection laboratory equipment, the teaching work can provide strong support. Laboratory construction plays an extremely important role in the teaching of engineering majors.
