TRW history
TRW has a long history, and continuous innovation is the most prominent tradition of enterprises. 1927, Charles? When Charles Lindbergh flew solo across the Atlantic Ocean, the engine core component 18 engine valve on his plane was produced by TRW's predecessor enterprise. The components provided by TRW are also used for the legendary return journey of Apollo 1970. TRW engineer is the first person to put forward the concept of hybrid vehicle in the world. TRW contributed to the world's first electronically controlled ABS system, the first Colette brake caliper, the first two-piece engine valve, the first frontal collision airbag and sensing system, and so on.
TRW's predecessor enterprises rose in the early days of American automobile industry. Since then, with the leading technology, we have developed a variety of products and provided value-added services to customers, and the enterprise is thriving. The world's earliest two-piece engine valve adopted the fastening and torsion technology in TRW's early products. Thanks to this, wooden wheels have also appeared on Ford Model T and many lighting and electrical products developed in Europe. On this basis, the company's auto parts business developed rapidly, and entered the automobile brake market in North America and Europe on 1928 and 1932 respectively, and successively merged a number of manufacturers who supplied arms to the US government before and after World War II and the Korean War. Enterprises have never slackened their efforts in technology updating, and developed hydraulic braking, electric braking, engine valve technology and so on.
In the 1950s and 1960s, North American industries became diversified. Through the merger with Thompson Products Company and Ramo-Wooldridge Company, it has become the main force of American aerospace industry and aircraft manufacturing industry. The company changed its name to Thompson-Ramo-Wooldridge Group-hence the abbreviation of "TRW". TRW's automobile business has also expanded to other fields. 1965 and Rothgear &; After the tool company merged, it became a commercial vehicle and turned to the market. Acquired United Carl Company and entered the electronic products industry. In the next five years, TRW produced a series of breakthrough products, such as the first disc brake system in North America, the steering rod rack and pinion (1967) and the first electronically controlled anti-lock braking system (ABS). During this period, TRW's space career also reached another peak. 1969, TRW's engine technology was applied to the American manned moon landing spacecraft. Armstrong's historic step on the moon played a key role.
In 1970s and 1980s, TRW's technological progress and business expansion never stopped. 1972, TRW acquired German Ripa Company and entered the field of occupant safety products. In the same year, the electric steering rod and pinion were successfully introduced, which still occupy the leading position in the world. During this period, TRW also pioneered the world's first disc brake caliper brand Collette, the first two-wheel ABS system, the first door remote control system, the first frontal collision protection airbag and sensor system (1989).
In the 1990s, TRW, which flourished in the aerospace field, also attached great importance to the development of vehicle occupant safety system products, and acquired the airbag and steering wheel business of Magna International, becoming the market leader of seat belts, protective airbags and steering wheel systems in Europe and America. 1In May, 1999, TRW announced the acquisition of LucasVarity, a leading European brand of automotive systems and aviation components, for US$ 7 billion. This series of products has promoted the integration of TRW control system products and consolidated its leading position in the global occupant safety product market. By 2 1 century, TRW has become a technical leader in aerospace and automobile fields. In 2003, the auto parts business was independent. Since then, TRW has been committed to building safe driving and has the most comprehensive and extensive safety product line.
As the world's top supplier of automobile safety development, TRW's innovation ability has lasted for more than 100 years. TRW, as a safety master, develops industry-leading intelligent and integrated technologies, such as vehicle dynamic control, driver assistance, electronic stability control, advanced occupant restraint system, safety electronic equipment and upgrade software. In 2008, TRW launched a highly intelligent cognitive safety system, which represents the future development direction of automobile safety and also reflects TRW's strong strength in integrated development and innovation.
