In August 2018, the National Health and Wellness Commission (NHSC) comprehensively revised the Administrative Measures for the Clinical Application of Medical Technology (hereinafter referred to as the Administrative Measures), which was formulated in 2009 by the former Ministry of Health. The newly revised "Administrative Measures" has strict regulations on restricted medical technologies: it requires that medical institutions intending to carry out the clinical application of restricted technologies should carry out self-assessment in accordance with the relevant norms for the management of the clinical application of medical technologies, and if they meet the conditions, they can carry out the clinical application and file the record with the administrative department of health that issued their "license to practice in a medical institution".
