Jinan Lingang Economic Development Zone is located in the northeastern part of Jinan, at the intersection of Jinan-Qingdao Expressway, Jinan Eastern Bypass Expressway and Qingyin Expressway, 16 kilometers away from the main city. It is a provincial-level economic development zone approved by the People's Government of Shandong Province in 1993, and is named after Jinan International Airport, which is located in the zone. In recent years, the development zone has been improving its infrastructure by increasing investment. Germany ZF steering gear, VOSS auto parts, Japan's Hyson Mecom medical supplies and many other large projects, foreign-funded projects have settled in the development zone. The development zone has formed a fine chemicals, auto parts, electronic information, machinery processing and other four leading industries. Lingang Development Zone has a favorable geographical position: Jinan International Airport is the second largest airport in East China.
