History of Tangshan

Tangshan has a long history, as early as 40,000 years ago, there are human beings working and living, the Shang Dynasty belonged to the Lone Bamboo State, the Warring States for the Yan land, the Han Dynasty belonged to the Youzhou, the Qing Dynasty, under the Directly Affiliated to the province of Yongpingfu and Zunhua Directly Affiliated to the state.

Tang ZhenGuan nineteen years (645 years), Tang TaiZong LiShiMin led the army east to conquer the Korean Peninsula, back on the way through the TangShan realm, its love consort CaoFei unfortunately died of illness, LiShiMin remembered its love consort, rewarded with the name of Tang, TangShan thus named.

The twenty-fourth year of Guangxu (1898), because of Qiaotou Town to the north of the town of "Tangshan", and renamed Tangshan Town, this is the beginning of the administrative name of Tangshan.

In July of the same year, the national government in Jidong set up "Luan Yu Administrative Inspector-General's Office" "Jimei Administrative Inspector-General's Office", 13 counties under the jurisdiction of the rule of Tongxian.

Republic of China twenty-four years (1935), Luan Yu, Jimei District Administrative Inspector Yin Rugeng merged the two districts, was established on November 25, pseudo-Jidong anti-*** Autonomous Committee, a month later reorganized as the pseudo-Jidong anti-*** Autonomous Government, with jurisdiction over 22 counties, the pseudo-power station in August 1937 from Tongxian moved to Tangshan.

Republic of China 27 years (1938) on January 28, the pseudo-Hebei East Defense **** Autonomous Government in view of Tangshan has a special economic and political status of Tangshan explicitly set up a city, initially called "Tangshan City Government", later renamed "Tangshan City Office".

Republic of China 33 years (1944) on July 1, by the pseudo security forces (pacification army) in Tangshan established "Jidong Special Administrative Office".

After Japan's surrender, the Kuomintang in Beiping sent officers to take over the Japanese pseudo-regime, set up the Office of the Inspector-General, and established the Tangshan police station under the jurisdiction of the Hebei Provincial Government.

Republic of China 34 years (1945) October to Republic of China 35 years (1946) April, Tangshan did not form the municipal government, all political affairs by the Office of the Commissioner for Supervision and Tangshan Police Department management.

Republic of China thirty-five years (1946) in April, the 132nd meeting of the Hebei Provincial Government Committee adopted the establishment of the city of Tangshan, May 5 of the same year, the Tangshan Municipal Government was established.

Republic of China 37 years (1948) on December 12, Tangshan was liberated.

On December 15, 1984, the State Council approved Tangshan as one of the 13 "larger cities" in China.

As of 2018, Tangshan has three county-level cities (Qian'an, Zunhua, and Luanzhou), four counties (Qianxi, Yutian, Luannan, and Leting), seven districts (Caofeidian, Lunan, Lubei, Kaiping, Guye, Fengrun, and Fengyan), and four development zones (Seaport Economic Development Zone, High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Lutai Economic and Technological Development Zone, and Hangu Management Zone).

The city has 45 townships (including 3 ethnic townships), 132 towns, 5,398 village committees, 54 street offices, and 715 neighborhood committees (including 7 family committees). The Tangshan Municipal People's Government is located at No. 3 Xishan Road in Lubei District.

In 2018, Tangshan's gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to 695.50 billion yuan, an increase of 7.3% over the previous year in terms of comparable prices, exceeding the projected development target of 6.5% and accelerated by 1.0% over the previous year. The primary industry added value of 49.31 billion yuan, an increase of 2.7% over the previous year.

The added value of the secondary industry amounted to 381.78 billion yuan, an increase of 6.2%; the added value of the tertiary industry amounted to 264.40 billion yuan, an increase of 9.6%. The structure of the three industries was adjusted to 7.1:54.9:38.0 from 7.1:55.8:37.1 of the previous year.

In 2018, Tangshan City's total fiscal revenue was 88.25 billion yuan, an increase of 20.4% over the previous year. The general public **** budget revenue of 43.24 billion yuan, an increase of 13.7%, the growth rate of 6.6% faster than the previous year. Among them, the tax revenue of 32.42 billion yuan, an increase of 26.4%, tax revenue accounted for 75.0% of the general public **** budget revenue, an increase of 7.6% over the previous year.

Among the tax revenues, corporate income tax and individual income tax increased by 43.2% and 32.1% respectively. The city's general public **** budget expenditures amounted to 76.06 billion yuan, up 14.8 percent. Among them, general public **** services, health care and urban and rural communities grew 12.8 percent, 13.1 percent and 28.9 percent, respectively.
