The University is committed to nurturing all kinds of high quality human resources for the society, implementing the policy of equal emphasis on teaching and research, and pursuing excellence, so as to make the academic development constantly step on a new level. The University has the right to confer doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees, and has been approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China to enroll students from the Mainland. The campus is located at Avenida Wai Long, Taipa, Macau, and the School of Continuing Education has been set up at the Victoria Center, Sung Yuk Sang Plaza, in the new port area of Macau. The campus occupies an area of about 210,000 square meters, with a beautiful environment and convenient transportation, which makes it an ideal place for students to pursue their studies and researches. After years of construction, the University now has four key research centers: the Institute for Sustainable Development, the Institute of Space Science (Partner Laboratory of the Key Laboratory of Lunar and Deep Space Exploration of the Chinese Academy of Sciences), the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies, and the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research of Traditional Chinese Medicines (University of Macao, Macao University of Science and Technology).
The campus is equipped with a convenience store, a banking center, a student cafeteria, a teaching cafeteria, a cafeteria, a computer store, a physical development center, and an Olympic-standard track and field stadium, an indoor gymnasium, and tennis courts, which provide students with convenient places for sports and exercise, food, clothing, and transportation. The HKUST Hospital, located within the University campus, provides students and residents with 24-hour medical support and emergency services. The HKUST Hospital is well-equipped with a team of local medical professionals as well as specialist medical consultants from China, overseas and Hong Kong. In addition, the University has 24-hour security guards patrolling the campus and hostels to ensure an orderly campus environment. In order to provide students and faculty with more adequate working, learning and living conditions, the University has completed its fifth student hostel building, and has broken ground for a new academic building which includes a number of teaching kitchens, classrooms and faculty offices, which are the hardware support facilities that will further enhance the University's campus environment.
