The Emergency Department of the First Hospital of Peking University was founded in 1989, and after nearly 20 years of continuous development and growth, it has now become a comprehensive clinical department that is at the forefront of rescuing critically ill patients and responding to emergencies and public ****health events in the hospital, as well as shouldering the responsibilities of teaching, training and scientific research. The Emergency Department of our hospital is open around the clock, currently there are internal medicine, surgery, orthopedics, neurology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, dermatology and other clinics are open at any time to serve the patients. The Emergency Department has a dedicated pharmacy, billing office, laboratory, general X-ray and CT open 24 hours a day. At present, the Emergency Department receives about 300 visits per day, and its working area is divided into five parts: reception area, rescue area, temporary observation area, observation ward and intensive care unit; it has 63 beds, including 3 rescue beds, 18 intensive care beds, 42 observation beds, and 40 temporary infusion chairs. General emergency patients go to the corresponding departments after triage, and can be treated with infusion in the temporary observation room due to the need of their condition. Critically ill patients are directly admitted to the emergency room for treatment and resuscitation. The Department of Emergency Medicine has been able to realize the whole process of treatment from consultation, resuscitation, monitoring to the general observation ward for the patients who have no beds in the wards or who cannot be admitted to the hospital because of their conditions. Staffing: There are 22 doctors on duty, including 3 chief physicians, 2 deputy chief physicians, 15 attending physicians, and 75% of them have master's degree or above. Six physicians have studied and worked in Canada, the United States, Singapore, Macao, France and other places for further training. There are 68 nurses, 8 nurse supervisors, 32 nurse practitioners, 2 with bachelor's degree and 54 with college degree. The Emergency Department has complete medical equipment: multi-parameter monitoring system, portable monitor, bedside hemofilter, blood gas machine, bedside ultrasound and invasive, non-invasive ventilator, automatic gastric lavage machine, defibrillator, portable ventilator and other emergency equipment. In addition, the hospital has an equipment center that can deploy the necessary life-saving equipment to the resuscitation room and emergency care unit at any time. The above adequate equipment and deployment policy ensures a large number of emergency critical illnesses from the hardware rescue treatment needs. Medical work: the Emergency Department currently focuses on the rescue and treatment of internal medicine in terms of acute and critical illnesses, including poisoning, acute cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, various types of severe infections, sudden death, acute pulmonary embolism, endocrine crisis, acute severe pancreatitis, gastrointestinal bleeding and multiple compound injuries, etc., and actively collaborate with relevant departments to **** with the establishment of emergency medical treatment platforms such as the opening of the emergency interventional treatment of acute myocardial infarction Green channel, for further rapid and effective treatment of patients to buy time, improve the cure rate and survival rate of patients. Our department can independently complete tracheal intubation, central venous catheterization, arterial catheterization and other operations, and carry out continuous monitoring of central venous pressure and intra-arterial blood pressure, etc. In May 2005, we carried out the bedside renal replacement therapy (CRRT) technology, and rescued a large number of patients with acute renal failure caused by sepsis, cardiac failure, drug intoxication, rhabdomyolysis, and accumulated a wealth of experience in the rescue of critically ill patients, especially patients with combined multiple organ failure, as well as in the rescue of patients with multiple organ failure. In December 2006, with the support of the hospital and the efforts of the whole department, we set up an emergency care unit with six beds, which extends the space for emergency care and treatment on the one hand, and at the same time provides a place for the development of the discipline of the emergency department, monitoring of critical illnesses, and carrying out scientific research on the other. In recent years, the total number of patients treated in the emergency department has been on the rise year by year. before 2000, the average number of patients treated in the emergency department was 50,000-60,000/year, and after 2000, the average number of patients treated in the emergency department was 90,000-100,000/year, and the number of patients who stayed in the emergency department was 70,000/year. The proportion of critically ill patients treated in the emergency department has been increasing year by year, and the success rate of resuscitation is above 90%. In 2000, the Emergency Department successfully completed the food poisoning rescue work for nearly 100 people without a single death, and was awarded by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Health; in 2003, during the fight against SARS, the emergency detention ward was changed to a ward for SARS patients, and the whole department cooperated with each other and ****admitted and referred more than 300 patients, and at the same time, as a unit of the examining physician, the mission was successfully completed, and the collective and individual were awarded by Beijing Municipality and Peking University for a number of times. In 2004, the Department of Emergency Medicine became the training base for emergency medicine specialists in Beijing, and in March 2008, it trained more than 60 emergency medicine physicians from 10 hospitals in Beijing in the Capital Emergency Medicine Talent Cultivation Program. 2006, the Department of Emergency Medicine became the first training base for emergency nursing teaching in Beijing, and in the subsequent teaching trainings in Beijing, the Department of Emergency Medicine trained more than 200 people for other hospitals in Beijing.
