Yamaha is a Japanese company that produces musical instruments, audio equipment, and sound products, and was founded in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan in 1887 by Toranami Yamaha.
In 1949, the company was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, and in 1987, the 100th anniversary of its founding, it changed its name to Yamaha Corporation (i.e., the Yamaha Group), and in 2000, it established Yamaha Records, Inc.
The Yamaha Group cultivates technology and infectious energy with music as the origin, and works with people around the world to ****together to create new touches and a rich culture. Yamaha's history began with a broken organ.
In 1887, an American-made organ, which had been considered a treasure by the Hamamatsu Elementary School in Japan, suddenly stopped playing, and Toranami Yamaha, who was a medical equipment repairman at the time, was commissioned to repair it. After seeing the inner workings of the organ for the first time, Toranami became interested in the instrument and had the idea of building an organ himself.
