Lu Shengmei story: Lu Shengmei, Shaanxian Jiaxian People's Hospital retired doctor, now 74 years old. 1968 she graduated from the Capital Medical University (then the second medical school in Beijing), in order to respond to the country's call for the development of medical and health care in rural areas, she decided to come to the loess plateau of the Shaanxian Jiaxian. Being in a foreign land, she missed her family and hometown so much that she wanted to go back and cried secretly. She has witnessed how much suffering the people there have endured because of the poor medical conditions, and she has seen some women cut the umbilical cord with their bare hands without disinfection, and from that time on, she has vowed in her heart that she will change the medical and health conditions here, and publicize and popularize the knowledge of health care to everyone. From that time on, she decided to spend the rest of her life rooted in this county in need of people in need of doctors.
She gave her all for the sick. On a snowy morning on the Loess Plateau, Lu went to a faraway place, more than 10 miles from her hospital.
