Checking bulbs
Close all doors, apply the parking brake, fasten seat belts, and turn the ignition switch to the ON position, but do not start the NISSAN Pure Drive Hybrid System. If equipped, the following lights will illuminate:
If equipped, the following lights will illuminate briefly and then go out:
If any of the lights do not illuminate, it may indicate that the bulb is burned out or that the electrical system is open. Have this system checked immediately at a DFL NISSAN franchise and repaired if necessary.
Certain indicator lights and warnings are also shown on the vehicle information display between the speedometer and tachometer.
12-volt battery charging warning light
When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the charging warning light comes on and then goes off. This indicates that the charging system is working properly.
If the charging warning light comes on while the hybrid system is running, or while driving, it may indicate that the charging system is not working properly and may need to be repaired.
NOTE:
If the 12-volt battery charge warning light illuminates while the hybrid system is running, the charging system may not be working properly. When the 12-volt battery is depleted, the hybrid system will stop working. Immediately park the vehicle in a safe location and contact a Dongfeng NISSAN franchise.
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning light
When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the ABS warning light comes on and then goes off. This indicates that the ABS is working properly.
If the ABS warning light comes on while the hybrid system is running, or while driving, this may indicate that the ABS is not working properly. Have the system checked at a DFL NISSAN franchise immediately.
If the ABS malfunctions, the anti-lock function is turned off. Subsequently, the braking system works normally, but the anti-lock brake assist does not work.
Brake system warning light (yellow)
When the hybrid system is activated, the brake system warning light (yellow) will illuminate and then go out after a few seconds.
Special note:
Do not drive the vehicle with both the brake system warning light (yellow) and the brake warning light (red) illuminated when the parking brake has been released and the hybrid system is operating. More brake pedal force than usual will be required and braking performance will be significantly reduced, which could result in an accident. Immediately pull over to a safe location and contact a NISSAN dealer.
If the brake system warning light (yellow) illuminates when the ignition switch is in the ON position, it may indicate a malfunction of the brake system or one of the other functions listed below.
●Regenerative braking system
●Hill start assist system
Please have it checked at a DFL NISSAN franchise store as soon as possible. If the power supply to the brake system fails, the buzzer will sound.
Brake warning light (red)
The brake warning light (red) acts on the parking brake and foot brake system.
Parking Brake Warning Indicator Lamp:
The brake warning lamp illuminates when the ignition switch is placed in the "ON" position with the parking brake applied. When the parking brake is released, the brake warning light goes out.
If the parking brake is not fully released, the brake warning light remains illuminated. Before driving, make sure the brake warning light is off.
LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WARNING:
If the brake warning light remains illuminated while the hybrid system is running or while you are driving and the parking brake is released, the brake fluid level is low.
When the brake warning light comes on while driving, stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible. Stop and check the brake fluid level. If the fluid level is at the lowest mark, add brake fluid as needed. If the brake fluid is sufficient, have the braking system checked at a DFL NISSAN franchise immediately.
Brake system malfunction warning:
If the brake warning lamp (red) and the following warning lamps illuminate at the same time when the parking brake is released and the brake fluid level is sufficient, there may be a brake system malfunction.
●Brake system warning light (yellow)
Special note:
Do not drive the vehicle when both the brake system warning light (yellow) and the brake warning light (red) illuminate with the parking brake released and the hybrid system operating. More brake pedal force than usual will be required and braking performance will be significantly reduced, which could result in an accident. Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact a NISSAN dealer.
If the power supply to the braking system fails, the buzzer sounds.
●Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning light
-Avoid high-speed driving and emergency braking, and have the vehicle inspected at a DFL NISSAN franchise store as soon as possible.
Special note:
●If the brake warning light (red) is illuminated, your braking system may not be working properly. Driving in this condition is hazardous. If you judge the brake system to be safe, drive carefully to the nearest service station for repair. Otherwise, use another vehicle for towing as it is dangerous to drive this vehicle.
●Pressing the brake pedal while the hybrid system is stopped and/or the brake fluid level is low may increase your stopping distance and braking will require more pedal force and longer pedal travel.
●If the brake fluid level is below the minimum or MIN mark on the brake fluid reservoir, do not drive the vehicle until the brake system has been checked at a DFL NISSAN franchise.
Pure Drive Hybrid System Warning Light
When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the Pure Drive Hybrid System (Hybrid System) warning light comes on. When the hybrid system is activated, the hybrid system warning light goes out.
If the hybrid system warning light illuminates while driving, it may indicate a malfunction of the electric motor and/or other hybrid system components.
Please stop the vehicle immediately and contact a Dongfeng NISSAN franchise.
Engine oil pressure warning light
The engine oil pressure warning light illuminates when the ignition switch is in the "ON" position. When the hybrid system is activated, the engine oil pressure warning light goes out. This indicates that the oil pressure sensor in the hybrid system is working properly. If the engine oil pressure warning light illuminates or flashes while the hybrid system is running, it may indicate low engine oil pressure.
Please stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible. Turn off the hybrid system immediately and contact a DFL NISSAN franchise.
It is important to note:
● Running the hybrid system with the engine oil pressure warning light illuminated may result in serious engine damage.
●The engine oil pressure warning light is not intended to indicate a low oil level. Please check the oil level with the dipstick.
Forward Emergency Braking System/Emergency Assistive Technology System Warning Light
The Forward Emergency Braking System/Emergency Assistive Technology System Warning Light illuminates when the ignition switch is in the "ON" position. When the hybrid system is activated, the Emergency Forward Braking System/Emergency Assistive Technology System for Throttle Misuse warning light goes out.
When the Forward Emergency Braking System/Emergency Assistive Technology System for Throttle Mis-step is set to "OFF" via the Forward Emergency Braking System/Emergency Assistive Technology System for Throttle Mis-step switch, or the Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system is turned "OFF", the Forward Emergency Braking System/Emergency Assistive Technology System for Throttle Mis-step warning light illuminates. The Forward Emergency Braking System/Emergency Assistive Technology System for Throttle Misstep warning lamp illuminates when the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system is turned to "OFF".
If this light illuminates while the Forward Emergency Braking System/Emergency Assistive Technology System for Throttle misapplication is "ON", it may indicate that the system is not available.
Hydraulic pump electric power steering warning light
The hydraulic pump electric power steering warning light comes on when the ignition switch is in the "ON" position. When the hybrid system is activated, the hydraulic pump electric power steering warning light goes out. This indicates that the hydraulic pump electric power steering system is working properly. If the hydraulic pump electric power steering warning light illuminates while the hybrid system is running, this may indicate that the hydraulic pump electric power steering system is not working properly and may need to be repaired. Have the hydraulic pump electric power steering system checked at a DFL NISSAN franchise.
Low tire pressure warning light
When the ignition switch is in the "ON" position, the low tire pressure warning light comes on and then goes off. This indicates that the low tire pressure warning system is working properly.
The light comes on if tire pressure is low or if the tire pressure warning system is malfunctioning.
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) monitors tire pressure in all tires except the spare.
LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING:
The Low Tire Pressure Warning light illuminates if the vehicle is driven with low tire pressure.
When the low tire pressure warning light illuminates, stop the vehicle and adjust the tire pressure to the COLD (cold) tire pressure recommended on the tire placard. Use a tire pressure gauge to check tire pressure. The low tire pressure warning light may not go out automatically when tire pressure has been adjusted. After the tires are inflated to the recommended pressure, the vehicle must be driven at a speed of 25 km/h (16 MPH) or more to activate the TPMS and turn off the low tire pressure warning light.
TPMS malfunction:
If the TPMS is not operating properly, the low tire pressure warning light will flash for approximately 1 minute when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position. After this 1 minute, the light will remain illuminated. Have the system checked at a NISSAN dealer.
Special note:
● Radio waves can adversely affect electronic medical devices. Those with pacemakers should contact the manufacturer of the electronic medical device before use to ask if they will be affected.
●If the light does not come on with the ignition switch in the "ON" position, have the vehicle inspected as soon as possible at a NISSAN dealer.
●If the light is illuminated while driving, avoid sudden steering or emergency braking, reduce speed, pull over to a safe position and stop the vehicle as soon as possible. Driving with underinflated tires may permanently damage the tires and increase the likelihood of tire failure. Serious vehicle damage can occur and may cause an accident and result in serious personal injury. Check tire pressure in all four tires. Adjust tire pressure to the recommended COLD tire pressure on the tire placard to turn off the low tire pressure warning light. If a tire is leaking, replace it with a spare tire as soon as possible.
●When a spare tire has been installed or a wheel has been replaced, the TPMS will not operate and the low tire pressure warning light will flash for about 1 minute. The light will remain illuminated after this 1 minute. For tire replacement and/or system reset, contact a DFL NISSAN franchise as soon as possible.
●Replacing tires other than those originally specified by NISSAN will affect the proper operation of the TPMS.
Notice:
● TPMS does not replace regular tire pressure checks. Always check tire pressure regularly.
●The TPMS may not operate correctly if the vehicle is driven at speeds below 25 km/h (16 MPH).
● Be sure to properly install the specified size tires on all four wheels.
Main warning light
When the ignition switch is in the "ON" position, the main warning light comes on if any of the following warnings are displayed on the vehicle information display.
●Key not detected
●Key ID error
●Low key battery
●Key system malfunction
●Key registration complete
●Please shift to P
●Please turn off the ignition
●Please disengage the parking brake
●Doors/rear door Open
●Low fuel
●Low washer fluid level
●CVT error
●4WD error (if equipped)
●Please stop the vehicle for high 4WD temperatures (if equipped)
●Mismatched tire sizes (if equipped)
●Error in headlight system (if equipped)
●Tire Low tire pressure
●Parking aid radar error
●System malfunction (if equipped)
●Steering lock release malfunction indicator light
Seatbelt warning light
The seatbelt warning light illuminates when the ignition switch is in the "ON" position. The light will remain on until the front seat belts are fastened.
When the vehicle speed exceeds 15 km/h (9 MPH), the light will flash and the buzzer will sound unless the front seat belts are securely fastened. The buzzer will continue to sound for approximately 90 seconds until the seat belts are fastened.
SRS airbag warning light
When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the SRS airbag warning light comes on for about 7 seconds and then goes off. This indicates that the SRS airbag system is working properly.
If any of the following conditions occur, the SRS airbag system and/or seat belt pretensioners need servicing. Have the system inspected immediately at a DFL NISSAN franchise and repaired if necessary.
● The SRS airbag warning light remains illuminated after about 7 seconds.
●The SRS airbag warning light flashes intermittently.
●The SRS airbag warning light does not illuminate at all.
The SRS airbag system and/or seat belt pretensioners may not function properly unless inspected and repaired.
Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) Warning Light
When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the VDC warning light comes on and then goes off. This indicates that the VDC system is working properly.
When the VDC system is operating, the VDC warning light flashes.
If this warning light flashes while driving, it indicates that the road surface is slippery and the vehicle is approaching the traction limit.
If the VDC warning light illuminates while the hybrid system is operating, or while driving, it may indicate that the VDC system is not functioning properly and may require service. Have the system inspected and, if necessary, repaired at a DFL NISSAN franchise immediately.
If the system malfunctions, the VDC system function will be canceled, but the vehicle can still be driven.
Pedestrian Approaching Vehicle Sound Warning System (VSP) OFF Indicator Light
This light comes on when the Pedestrian Approaching Vehicle Sound Warning System (VSP) OFF switch is pressed to OFF.
If the Pedestrian Approaching Vehicle Acoustic Warning System (VSP) OFF indicator light illuminates with the VSP switch turned ON, it will likely indicate that the VSP is not operating properly. Have the system checked at an EAST NISSAN franchise.
EV indicator light
The EV indicator light illuminates to indicate that the vehicle is running on electric motor power only.
Front fog light indicator
The front fog light indicator illuminates when the front fog lights are on.
High Beam Indicator Light
The high beam indicator light illuminates when the headlight high beams are on. The indicator goes out when the low beam is selected.
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
Things to keep in mind:
● Continuing to drive the vehicle without proper servicing of the engine control system and/or Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) can result in poor drivability, reduced fuel economy, and damage to the engine control system and/or the CVT system, which may affect the vehicle's warranty coverage.
● Incorrect engine control system settings may result in violations of local and national emissions laws and regulations.
The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) illuminates when the ignition switch is in the ON position. When the hybrid system is activated, the MIL goes out. This indicates that the engine control system and/or CVT system is working properly.
If the MIL illuminates while the engine is running, it may indicate that the engine control system is not working properly and may need to be repaired. Have your vehicle inspected immediately at a DFL NISSAN franchise and repaired if necessary.
If the MIL blinks while the engine is running, it may indicate a potential malfunction in the emission control system. In this case, the emission control system may not function properly and may need to be repaired. Have the system inspected at a DFL NISSAN franchise immediately and repaired if necessary.
Precautions:
To minimize or avoid possible damage to the engine control system when the MIL is flashing:
●Avoid driving at speeds above 70 km/h (43 MPH).
●Please avoid sudden acceleration or deceleration.
●Please avoid going up steep hills.
●Please avoid loading or hauling unnecessary loads.
Drive Ready Indicator Light
The Drive Ready Indicator Light illuminates when the hybrid system is energized and the vehicle is drivable.
Rear Fog Light Indicator
The rear fog light indicator illuminates when the rear fog lights are on.
Safety indicator light
When the ignition switch is in the "ACC", "OFF" or "LOCK" position, the safety indicator light flashes. This feature indicates that the safety systems equipped on the vehicle are working properly.
If there is a malfunction in the safety system, the light will remain illuminated when the ignition switch is in the "ON" position.
Small Lamp Indicator Lamp
The small lamp indicator lamp is illuminated when the front indicator lamps, instrument panel lamps, rear combination lamps and license plate lamps are on. When these lights are off, the indicator goes out.
Turn Signal/Hazard Indicator Lights
The turn signal/hazard indicator lights flash when the turn signal switch or hazard indicator flasher switch is on.
Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) OFF indicator light
When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the VDC OFF indicator light illuminates and then goes out. When the VDC OFF switch is pressed to the "OFF" position, the VDC OFF indicator lights up.
When the VDC OFF switch is pressed to the "OFF" position, the VDC system is turned off.
Brake Friction Block Wear Warning
The disc brake friction blocks have an audible wear warning sound. When it is necessary to replace the brake friction blocks, the blocks will make a sharp scraping sound while the vehicle is in motion. The scraping sound will first appear only when the brake pedal is depressed. As the brake friction blocks become more worn, the sound can be heard even when the brake pedal is not depressed. Have the brakes inspected as soon as you hear the wear warning sound.
Check this system immediately at a DFL NISSAN franchise and have it repaired if necessary.
Key reminder buzzer
When locking the doors, the smart key door buzzer sounds if the smart key is left in the vehicle. Be sure to check the vehicle and smart key when the buzzer sounds.
Light reminder buzzer
If the driver's side is turned off with the headlight switch in the two positions shown below and the ignition switch in the "ACC", "OFF" or "LOCK" position, the driver's side will be turned on. position and the ignition switch is in the "ACC", "OFF" or "LOCK" position with the driver's side door open, the headlight reminder buzzer will sound.
When leaving the vehicle, be sure to turn the light switch to the "OFF" or "AUTO" position.
Parking brake reminder buzzer
If the vehicle is traveling at a speed greater than 7 km/h (4 MPH) with the parking brake applied, the parking brake reminder buzzer will sound. Stop the vehicle and release the parking brake.
Seat belt warning buzzer
The buzzer will sound when the vehicle is traveling at a speed greater than 15 km/h (9 MPH) unless the front seat belts are securely fastened. The buzzer will continue to sound for approximately 90 seconds until the seat belts are fastened.
