Modular power supply is a power supply that can be directly installed on printed circuit boards, and can supply power to application specific integrated circuits (ASIC), digital signal processors (DSP), microprocessors, memories, field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) and other digital or analog loads.
Generally speaking, this module is called a load (POL) power supply system or a point-of-use power supply system (PUPS). Due to the obvious advantages of modular structure, modular power supply is widely used in switching equipment, access equipment, mobile communication, microwave communication, optical transmission, routers and other communication fields as well as automotive electronics, aerospace and other fields.
Second, the difference between modular power supply and ordinary power supply?
1, with different appearance.
Ordinary power supply leads many power lines from the inside, while module power supply is replaced by module interface board. After disassembling the power supply, we can see that the power cord of the ordinary power supply is directly led out from the PCB board, while the module power supply connects the power cord led out from the PCB board to the module board at the output interface.
2, the work efficiency is different
There is only one connection point between PCB board and power cord of common power supply, so the loss is very low. There are two connection points between the PCB board of the module power supply and the power cord connected to the host, so the loss is higher because there are many connection points. The efficiency of modular power supply with the same specification is a little lower than that of ordinary power supply.
3. The conversion efficiency is different
The higher the actual power, the higher the damage degree of the module power supply. For example, the modular power supply with 100% load under the commercial power supply is about 0.6% lower than the ordinary power supply. Different power supplies have different performances, but in the same state, the conversion efficiency of module power supply is indeed lower than that of ordinary power supply.
