Go Orthodontistes Dental Clinic, Canada, Clean, Pure, Comfortable Space Clinic

The Go Orthodontistes Dental Clinic is located in a commercial complex in Brossard, Canada, where a long entrance porch connects this sophisticated space to the exterior commercial space. In order to achieve unity in the space, the designers considered the interior space and the industrial design elements as a whole. Wooden slats serve as the dominant element of the overall space, forming different curved walls and barriers to bring about a clear and open interior layout.

▼Space Overview

The open floor plan naturally serves as a guide for visitors to easily form an awareness of their environment.

The designers utilized differences in material transparency to divide the public **** space from the private space in the most favorable layout strategy. The long entrance porch provides the necessary storage space for the 1,943-square-foot clinic. On one side of the porch is a chest of drawers for orthodontic equipment, while the other side is used as a closet.

▼Details

The interior walls have varying degrees of transparency: from the waiting area, you can see into the consulting area behind the reception desk; and the chairs in the treatment rooms are visible through panes of copper mesh and glass; Private areas such as consultation rooms are completely enclosed by solid walls. Partially glazed partitions in the laboratory and equipment sterilization center are covered with translucent white film, providing a semi-private working environment for the medical staff. The materials used in the interior are durable, soft to the touch and easy to maintain. Built-in furniture, designed according to the space plan, creates a strong connection between all elements of the space.

Light fixtures fixed to the ceiling echo the doctor's family name, Go, in an abstract form.

Color consistency is essential for graceful transitions through the space.

Cleanliness, purity and comfort were the three most important factors in this project. The color palette of the interior space creates a harmonious relationship with the natural light and highlights the sophistication and nobility of the materials. The original concrete floors and columns were only polished to create an intuitive connection with the structure. Repetitive and continuous linear elements and light white marble walls add a sense of variety and drama to the space. Built-in furniture incorporates benches in the waiting room, cabinets, reception desks and light fixtures in the private offices, laboratories and conference rooms, and closets and lockers at the doorways. Medical spaces should be designed with a particular focus on the user's emotions and experience; in this project, the interior walls of the cramped X-ray room are covered with antique cedar veneer to avoid the possibility of claustrophobia. In this environment, the X-ray equipment no longer looks as cold and scary as it once did.

The waiting area is bathed in bright natural light, and benches anchored to the walls maximize the use of space. Seats in the waiting area are positioned with their backs to the entrance, which reduces anxiety for the user. The centrally located bench can be overlapped or staggered as needed. The smooth wood finish reflects natural light and LED lights under the seats give the bench a three-dimensional appearance. The benches and table tops are made of sturdy, warp-resistant Russian plywood and finished in the same light color as the clinic's walls.

The cleanliness of the space is enhanced by a customized sink in the same Corian material as the clinic's worktops. The reception desk was designed as a separate space, free from the constraints of the closet. The varying edges of the reception countertop emphasize the design's emphasis on function and privacy.
