How large a tumor can be captured in a flat lung scan with Siemens dual-source cT 32-row
The 64-row CT is single-source, the dual-source CT acquires cardiac images twice as fast, and with dose modulation technology to reduce high-dose exposures during cardiac acquisitions, it reduces the cardiac acquisition dose by more than half. Dual source CT has very high temporal resolution, allowing cardiac images to be acquired in a single cardiac cycle at any heart rate, eliminating the need for multisector reconstruction (i.e., acquiring cardiac images using data from multiple cardiac cycles) even in higher heart rate cases. At higher heart rates, SOMATOM Definition's automatic bed speed adjustment allows you to increase the pitch of the scan, speeding up the bed feed and reducing the exposure time accordingly. In other words, the higher the heart rate, the shorter the cardiac imaging time and the lower the dose required. Scanning Obese Patients When scanning obese patients, it is often difficult to balance scanning speed and image quality with single-source CT. Dual source CT overcomes the limitations of power reserve with a second X-ray source. In other words, it can pool the power of two independent sources to reach an unprecedented 160KW to provide sufficient X-ray power reserve to achieve high-quality images with maximum volume coverage speed and shortest scanning time, regardless of the patient's height or weight. At the same time, because of the increased scanning speed, the SOMATOM Definition utilizes more power to improve image quality but maintains the same dose level as a single-source CT.
