What is Embedded ECX Platform

Portwell is proud to announce the launch of PEB-2730VL, a 3.5-inch embedded single board computer based on Intel ECX specification. Developed on Intel 915GM chipset, the embedded single board computer accelerates the product development cycle by combining a low voltage Intel Pentium M processor with Intel 915GM chipset and integrating a high-speed PCI-Express bus to achieve the highest performance at the lowest voltage.

The Intel ECX specification integrates a variety of I/O connections and interfaces to meet the expansion needs of specific applications, and with the low power consumption of the Intel Pentium M processor, the PEB-2730VL provides the Intel ECX specification with a fan-less cooling solution that eliminates noise and improves stability when developing embedded systems. Optimized for integrated graphics solutions, the PEB-2730VL is paired with the Intel 915GM high-speed chipset's 533MHz front-end sink speed, up to 2MB of L2 cache memory, and the Intel GMA 900 chipset to provide the best choice for the embedded system market targeting high-density, high-performance requirements.

Rextron also offers ARTO-50, a pocket-sized platform designed for modular racks with ECX specifications, which can be used for wireless data communication systems, medical devices, digital signage, and interactive client device development. ARTO-50 can also be used to perform multimedia image processing applications using two independent screens at the same time through the PMIO expansion interface. In terms of ECX specification, ARTO-50 supports Intel Pentium M 1.4GHz and Intel Celeron M 1.0GHz processors for fanless system design.

This embedded single board computer can fulfill the needs of automotive entertainment systems, medical devices, and interactive client devices including POS (Point of Sale) and KIOSK (Kiosk) applications. Renesas will start providing limited evaluation samples in December 2005 and mass production in the first quarter of 2006.
