Clear definition of various types of oral appliances
The new standard clarifies the definition of various types of oral appliances, in particular, according to the degree of risk of oral appliances will be categorized into high, medium and low risk oral appliances.
Highly hazardous oral instruments are those that penetrate soft tissues, contact bone, enter or come into contact with blood or other sterile tissues, including extraction instruments, periodontal instruments, root canal appliances, surgical instruments, etc., which should be sterilized and aseptically preserved.
Medium risk oral instruments are those that are in contact with intact mucous membranes and do not enter sterile tissues, organs or blood streams of the human body, nor do they come into contact with broken skin or broken mucous membranes, including examining instruments, orthodontic instruments, restorative instruments, and various types of fillers, etc., which should reach the level of sterilization or a high level of sterilizing and be cleanly preserved.
Low risk oral instruments for non-contact with the patient's oral cavity or indirect contact with the patient's oral cavity, participate in oral diagnostic and treatment services, although microbial contamination, but in general harmless, only by a certain amount of pathogenic microbial contamination caused by the harm of oral instruments, including adjusting knives, etc., should reach the medium and low level disinfection level and clean and preserved.
Detailed provisions on the handling operation process of oral instruments
The new standard provides detailed provisions on the handling operation process of oral instruments in terms of recycling, cleaning, drying, inspection and maintenance, disinfection methods, packaging, sterilization methods, monitoring requirements and other aspects.
Particularly in terms of packaging, the sealing package puts forward new requirements:
1, the package should be sterilized outside the chemical indicators, and labeled with the name of the item, the packer, the sterilizer number, sterilization batch, sterilization date and expiration date, such as only one sterilizer can not be labeled with the number of the sterilizer.
2, paper-plastic bag packaging should be sealed intact, sealing width ≥ 6mm, the bag of instruments from the seal of the bag ≥ 2.5cm.
Instrument storage has new requirements
1, sterilization and disinfection of goods should be placed separately, and have obvious signs.
2, the use of sterilized packaging for the storage of sterile items according to the packaging materials, respectively, the expiration date:
Textile materials and dental instrument cases: 7 days
disposable paper bags: 30 days
disposable crumpled paper and medical nonwoven, disposable paper-plastic bags: 180 days
3, bare sterilization and general containers packaged with a high degree of Hazardous oral instruments should be used immediately after sterilization, up to a maximum of 4 hours.
4. Medium and low risk oral instruments should be stored in clean and dry containers after sterilization or pasteurization, and should not be kept for more than 7 days.
