Disposable surgical gowns are generally SMS surgical gowns and hydroentangled nonwoven surgical gowns, which are usually made of nonwoven fabrics, with reinforcing pieces of nonwoven composites.
According to incomplete statistics, the disposable surgical gown material is mainly SMS, accounting for about 60%, and some of the use of hydroentangled cloth (wood pulp/polyester composite cloth) with laminating materials, accounting for about 30%.
What is SMS?
SMS is polypropylene spunbond, meltblown composite nonwoven surgical gown material.
S--Spunbond, that is, spunbond nonwoven;
M--Mehblown, that is, meltblown nonwoven.
Spunbond nonwovens - provide good tensile resistance;
Meltblown nonwovens - have excellent filtering and shielding properties.
SMS composite nonwovens combine spunbond and meltblown nonwovens to fully utilize the advantages of both while overcoming the shortcomings of both, with good adsorption, filtration, bacterial barrier and high permeability.
Compared with the common surgical gowns on the market using SMS, SMMS fabrics, there are some disposable surgical gowns using SMMMS nonwoven fabrics as the main fabrics of surgical gowns. It has stronger antimicrobial properties than SMMS fabrics, is less likely to produce lint or fine dust, has better adsorption function and water pressure resistance, and has a higher protective effect, which provides more comprehensive protection for healthcare workers.
