Tianzhu Tibetan Autonomous County (Tianzhu County for short) is a county under the jurisdiction of Wuwei City in Gansu Province, and is the first region to implement regional ethnic autonomy after the founding of the People's Republic of China*** and the State of China.
Tianzhu, known as Huarui in Tibetan, means Heroic Tribe. Summer to the beginning of the Han Dynasty has for the Rongqiang, Yuezhi, Xiongnu and other nationalities stationed in the pasture, since the Han Dynasty when the Han Emperor Wudi into the Han Dynasty territory, the Tang Dynasty gradually formed to the Tubo (now the Tibetan) as the main ethnic multi-ethnic settlements.
Tianzhu County is located in the center of Gansu Province, in the south of Wuwei City, located in the Hexi Corridor and the eastern end of the Qilian Mountains. It is connected to Jingtai County in the east, Menyuan County, Mutual Aid County and Ledu County in Qinghai Province in the west, Yongdeng County in the south, Liangzhou District and Gulang County in the north, and bordering with Sunan County in the northwest.
