Reduce students' academic burden
It is clearly stipulated in the document that written homework cannot be assigned in the first and second grades of primary school. From the third grade to the sixth grade of primary school, you can assign written homework, but the time for completing the written homework cannot exceed one hour. In junior high school, the time for completing written homework cannot exceed one and a half hours. For senior high school, there is no clear homework time, but it is suggested to arrange homework time reasonably. It can be said that this time, the Ministry of Education has made up its mind, especially in the first and second grades, not to assign homework, which should be of great benefit to the students in the lower grades of primary schools.
Standardize examination management
This time, the Ministry of Education and other eight ministries and commissions put forward in the document that the number of unified examinations in schools should be controlled in the compulsory education stage, and it is stipulated that grades one and two should not take more than one examination in one semester. This means that there can only be one final exam per semester in the first and second grades of primary school. There should be no more than two exams per semester after grade three, that is to say, there are only mid-term exams and final exams, and there can be no other exams. At the same time, eight ministries and commissions, including the Ministry of Education, also pointed out in the document that it is strictly forbidden to publish examination results and student results in any way and form.
Certificates are no longer the basis for admission.
The document stipulates that it is strictly forbidden to use all kinds of competition award certificates, academic competition results and grade certificates as credentials for admission. I believe that once this move comes out, the attraction and influence of various competitions will drop a lot. In the past, many parents wanted their children to attend various remedial classes and interest classes, just to let them take more certificates and know more skills, so that they would have an advantage in the entrance examination. Only by canceling the use of these certificates at the root can we put an end to the spreading trend of the wind of textual research and grading for primary and secondary school students.
Strengthen outdoor sports
The document proposes that primary and secondary school students should be guaranteed more than 1 hour of physical activity at school every day. Moreover, there are strict regulations on the time of sports activities in all grades. There are four classes a week in the first and second grades of primary school, three classes a week in junior high school and two classes a week in senior high school. Setting the time for physical education class actually reduces the time for cultural classes, which is also a reflection of reducing the burden.
In short, judging from the introduction of these policies, the purpose of the Ministry of Education is to prevent myopia, but the effect has achieved the goal of reducing the burden.
