After the closure of Concord, he returned to Tianjin to practice medicine. 1948 After Xiehe resumed his career, he served as professor and director of science, dean of medical college, professor and deputy director of experimental medicine institute of China Academy of Medical Sciences, director of physiology teaching and research department of China Medical University, director of meridian research institute of China Academy of Medical Sciences, and professor of basic medical research institute of China Academy of Medical Sciences.

1988 died in Beijing on March 20th.

Zhang Xijun, whose name is Shi Ru, used to be Zhang Xichun. 1899 was born in Tianjin on June 3rd (April 25th of the lunar calendar). His father, Zhang Wenzao, is a famous doctor in Tianjin and founded Tianjin civilian hospital. Influenced by his family, Zhang Xijun decided to study medicine at an early age. In middle school, he was a patriotic youth with strong national pride. He was arrested by the constitutional police for taking part in the May 4th Movement. After graduating from Tianjin Middle School, I studied at Tsinghua School in Beijing on 19 16 ~ 1920. After graduation, he went to the United States, entered the pre-medical school of the University of Chicago, and obtained the Bachelor of Science degree of 1922. In the same year, he studied medicine at Roche Medical College, and studied for a doctorate at the University of Chicago. He graduated with honors from the famous physiologist A, 1926, and obtained a doctorate in medicine and a doctorate in philosophy. His doctor of philosophy certificate is printed with the word "Great Luther", which is a lofty reward. I met Lin Kesheng, a China scholar who works in the Department of Physiology at the University of Chicago. Lin Kesheng, a native of Fujian, graduated from the Medical College of Edinburgh University. He is a brilliant and patriotic young scientist. They agreed to go back to China for physiological research. 1925, Lin Kesheng returned to China as a professor in the Department of Physiology of Peking Union Medical College, and Zhang Xijun also returned to China as a resident in internal medicine of Peking Union Medical College Hospital after graduation in 1926. Link was born in chinese association for physiological sciences on 1926, and Zhang Xijun was accepted as a life member. The following year, Lin Kesheng founded China Journal of Physiology (English version of China Journal of Physiology). Since then, Zhang Xijun has been the backbone of academic work and magazine editing.

65438-0927, Zhang Xijun was invited by Lin Kesheng as a teaching assistant in the Department of Physiology. During the five years from 65438 to 0932, Zhang Xijun was successively promoted to lecturer and assistant professor, and became Lin Kesheng's right-hand man in teaching and scientific research. In the teaching work, Zhang Xijun assisted Lin Kesheng in compiling the first lecture on physiological experiments in China, establishing a well-equipped physiological laboratory and carrying out a systematic physiological experiment course. The course content is rigorous and systematic, and it is well received by peers at home and abroad. The experimental handout has been used as a blueprint by domestic universities. In the research work, Zhang Xijun mainly engaged in the research of digestive and endocrine physiology, and assisted Lin Kesheng in training graduate students and advanced students.

From 1932 to 1933, Zhang Xijun, as a visiting scholar, went to the University of Zurich in Switzerland and the Graduate School of the Royal Medical College in England for further study. From 65438 to 0934, he served as a professor in the Department of Physiology of Peking Union Medical College. 1935 ~ 1937 was the secretary and accountant of the 8th, 9th and 10th Council of chinese association for physiological sciences. 1937 When War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression broke out, Lin Kesheng left school and went south to organize and lead the anti-Japanese rescue work, with Zhang Xijun as the dean. At that time, Peking Union Medical College, as the industry of Rockefeller Foundation in the United States, was able to live in peace after the fall of Peiping, and Zhang Xijun was still immersed in teaching and scientific research. However, in the winter of 194 1, the Pacific War broke out, the United States and Japan fought, and Peking Union Medical College was occupied by the Japanese and forced to close. Unwilling to serve the puppet regime, Zhang Xijun returned to Tianjin to practice medicine and volunteered to be an outpatient in Tianjin Women's Hospital. After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, he returned to Peking Union Medical College on 1948 to resume his studies, and served as a professor in the Department of Physiology, and concurrently served as the provost on 1949.

After the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), Peking Union Medical College was renamed as China Union Medical College, and Zhang Xijun continued to chair the Department of Physiology. 195 1 ~ 1955 served as the director of the 12th Council of chinese association for physiological sciences. 1956 ~ 198 1 served as the executive director of the 13th, 14th and 15th Council of China Society of Physiological Sciences. 1955 was elected as an academician of China Academy of Sciences, 1957 Peking Union Medical College was transformed into China Academy of Medical Sciences, and China Medical University was established. Professor, Institute of Experimental Medicine, China Academy of Medical Sciences, deputy director of the Department of Physiology. 65438-0960 Director of the Institute of Experimental Medicine and Head of the Department of Physiology, China Medical University. 1963 concurrently serves as the director of the Institute of Acupuncture and Meridian of the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

/kloc-in the winter of 0/969, during the Cultural Revolution, Zhang Xijun moved to Jianyang, Sichuan with the Institute of Experimental Medicine, and joined the rural medical team to Jianmen Mountain in northern Sichuan. He was forced to stop his research work and then returned to Beijing to rest because of illness. From 1978, he served as the director of the basic medical research office, and 1982 resigned to continue to guide the research work and postgraduate training. 1987 resigned due to illness until his death.

Since 1926 joined chinese association for physiological sciences, Zhang Xijun has been actively undertaking all kinds of conference work and editing and publishing work of China Journal of Physiology, and was elected as the secretary and accountant of chinese association for physiological sciences for two consecutive years from 1935 to 1937, and has been the editor-in-chief and editor-in-chief of China Journal of Physiology. 195 1 year, Zhang Xijun was elected as the 12th executive director of chinese association for physiological sciences, and was re-elected to 1985. 1983, he donated all the welfare funds in his salary and the principal and interest of the former American bank to chinese association for physiological sciences as an award fund for outstanding young physiologists. China Physiological Science Association established the Zhang Xijun Foundation for this purpose.

Zhang Xijun studied rigorously and worked hard. He is diligent in thinking and pursuing in scientific research, paying special attention to the cultivation of talents. He teaches tirelessly, but he is strict. He trained or directed about 60 graduate students and advanced students, many of whom have become well-known scholars at home and abroad or the backbone of teaching and scientific research.
